Júlia Sebestyén (; born 14 May 1981) is a Hungarian former competitive figure skating, figure skater. She is the 2004 European Figure Skating Championships, European Champion and 2002–2010 Hungarian Figure Skating Championships, Hungarian national champion. At the 2004 European Figure Skating Championships, she became the first Hungarian woman to win the European title. She is also a four-time Hungarian Olympic team member, and was Hungary's flag-bearer at the 2010 Olympics. Personal life Júlia Sebestyén was born on 14 May 1981 in Miskolc, Hungary. János Sebestyén
János Sebestyén (2 March 19314 February 2012) was a Hungarian organist, harpsichordist, pianist and journalist. Biography János Sebestyén was born in Budapest, where both of his parents were prominent musicians and educators. His father, Sándor Sebestyén (1891-1962), studied cello with Adolf Schiffer and Arnold Földesy and was the author of several pedagogical works. His mother, Rózsi Mannaberg (1895-1986), studied piano with Arnold Székely and Wilhelm Backhaus. His formal musical education began in 1946 at the State Music Secondary School as a student of pianist István Antal, organist János Hammerschlag and composer Ervin Major. He continued his studies with organist Ferenc Gergely and composer Ferenc Szabó at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and graduated there with an organ diploma in 1955. Márta Sebestyén (; born 19 August 1957) is a Hungarian folk vocalist, composer and actress. Early life Sebestyén was born in Budapest, Hungary. Her mother is a composer, and was a music student of Zoltán Kodály. Her father was an economist and author. When Sebestyén was seven years old, her father, returning from a trip to the U.S. as a visiting professor (under a grant from the Ford Foundation), brought home a large collection of ethnic music recordings from the Smithsonian Institution. Sebestyén was educated at Miklós Radnóti Grammar School, Budapest. Career Sebestyén is a founding member of Hungarian folk group Muzsikás. Blessed Sebestyén (died 1007), was a Hungarian Benedictine missionary, prelate and politician, who served as Archbishop of Esztergom between 1002 and 1007. Biography According to the legend of Bishop Hartvik, Sebestyén (or ''Sebastian'') was a Benedictine monk of the Abbey of Pannonhalma, who was promoted to the rank of Archbishop of Esztergom by King St. Stephen I of Hungary, after the death of Archbishop Domonkos. For three years he suffered loss of vision, as a result he was replaced by Bishop Anastasius of Kalocsa (or ''Astrik''). In 1005 he was healed, and sanctified the church of the monastery of Pannonhalma. Astrik, on the other hand, was rewarded by the Pope the title of Archbishop of Kalocsa, rising through the ranks the diocese to archdiocese. Sebestyén Tinódi Lantos (c. 1510 in Tinód – 30 January 1556 in Sárvár) was a 16th-century Hungarian lyricist, epic poet, political historian, and minstrel. Biography Little is known about Tinódi's childhood. He attended various schools and studied Latin, and excelled at sheet music. He joined the military service in 1535 and in 1539 was wounded in a battle, which rendered him ineligible for further military service. In 1541, when Turks invaded, it made a big impression on him. He became a political poet at this time, his works expressing the need to resist the Turks. Tinódi started a family, and visited parliament and scenes of battles, and wrote poems about these. He then began to put his poems to music and performed them to the accompaniment of a lute, which led to his nickname, "Lantos" - the lute-player.
