Sebastiane Award is a prize delivered in September, since 2000, to a film or documentary screened during the San Sebastián International Film Festival that best reflects the values and reality of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people. The selection of the winner film is carried out between all sections that make up the Festival: Official Section, Zabaltegi, Horizontes Latinos, Made Spain, etc. History In 2000, the idea was raised of creating a gay and lesbian film award in the frame of San Sebastián Film Festival. This idea came up among ''Gehitu'' members, a gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender association from the Basque Country. The goal intended, as it was already happening from 1987 on with the Teddy Award in the Berlinale, was that the prize would help gay-theme movies have more relevance in movies theatres as well as in mass media. Peter Sollett (born January 1, 1976) is an American film director and screenwriter known for his feature films '' Raising Victor Vargas'' (2002) and ''Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist'' (2008). Jean-Marc Vallée (March 9, 1963December 25, 2021) was a Canadian filmmaker, film editor, and screenwriter. ''Dallas Buyers Club'' is a 2013 American biographical drama film written by Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack, and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée. The film tells the story of Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey), an AIDS patient diagnosed in the mid-1980s when HIV/AIDS treatments were under-researched, while the disease was not understood and was highly stigmatized. Marialy Rivas
Marialy Rivas is a Chilean screenwriter and film director, known for her 2012 film '' Young and Wild'', winner of the World Cinema Screenwriting Award in Sundance Film Festival.
