Sebastian Teo
Sebastian Teo Kway Huang (; born 1947) is a Singaporean politician and businessman. He was formerly the president of the National Solidarity Party (NSP). Education Teo holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Nanyang University, a Master of Business Administration degree from the National University of Singapore and a master's degree in Strategic Marketing Management from the University of Southern Queensland. Career Teo began his career as an executive officer in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). He left MINDEF in 1975 and subsequently served as the executive director of Knight Royal Management International, the academy director for Strategy Academic Research, and as general manager of companies in China and Taiwan. Nanyang University
Nanyang University (, also known as Nantah (), was a university in Singapore between 1956 and 1980. During its existence, it was Singapore's only private university in the Chinese language. In 1980, Nanyang University was merged with the University of Singapore to form the National University of Singapore (NUS). It was only until 2005 that another private school in Singapore, SIM University, was established. Cheo Chai Chen
Cheo Chai Chen ( zh, s=蒋才正, p=Jiǎng Cáizhèng) is a Singaporean former politician and businessman. He won the constituency of Nee Soon Central and served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency from 1991 to 1997, when he was a member of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). Biography Cheo is a graduate of Nanyang University, where he studied in the Department of Government and Public Administration. Cheo first stood for Parliament at the 1988 general election, where he was defeated by Ng Pock Too of the governing People's Action Party (PAP) in Nee Soon Central. Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency
Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency composed of several city suburbs surrounding the Central Area of Singapore. There are four wards in the GRC: Kreta Ayer-Kim Seng, Kolam Ayer, Whampoa and lastly Kampong Glam. The current Members of Parliament are Josephine Teo, Heng Chee How, Denise Phua and Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah from the People's Action Party (PAP). History It is named after Jalan Besar, a street in Singapore that forms this GRC's centrepiece. The street itself is within the Kallang planning area, Kallang itself being part of this GRC. 2006 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 6 May 2006. President of Singapore, President S.R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 20 April 2006 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong three weeks before the election. The People's Action Party (PAP) won 66.6% of the overall votes and gained 82 out of 84 seats. The PAP held the office of Prime Minister for a twelfth consecutive term.
