Seaview (film)
''Seaview'' is a 2007 documentary film directed by Nicky Gogan and Paul Rowley. The film chronicles the lives of a group of asylum seekers living in the former Butlin's Holiday Camp at Mosney, Ireland. The film takes an innovative approach to the use to sound and image in telling the stories of the Mosney residents. This has much to do with the past work of the directors, which has been focused on video art and gallery installation projects. The film premiered in the Forum section of the 2008 Berlin Film Festival and has since shown at many festivals internationally, including Hot Docs in Toronto, Silverdocs, Sheffield Doc-Fest, and the Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Film Festivals. The film was nominated in the best feature documentary category at the 2009 Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs). Nicky Gogan
Nicky Gogan is an Irish film director, writer and producer. She is the director of the experimental film festival Darklight Film Festival. She is also a founder and director of the Irish film production company Still Films. Film career Nicky's first feature film, '' Seaview'', is a documentary about the lives of refugees held in direct provision in Ireland. She co-directed and produced with filmmaker Paul Rowley. Paul Rowley(director)
Paul Rowley (born 12 March 1975) is a British rugby league coach and former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He is the current head-coach of Salford Red Devils. An England representative , he played at club level for Leigh, Halifax and Huddersfield. After retiring as a player, Rowley began a coaching career and was appointed head coach of Leigh in 2012, leading the club to Championship titles in 2014 and 2015 before departing at the beginning of the 2016 season. He subsequently was the head coach of the Toronto Wolfpack in the Betfred Championship. Background Rowley was born in Leigh, Greater Manchester, England. Mosney
Mosney () is a townland and village in the civil parish of Moorechurch in County Meath, Ireland, from Dublin. It was best known as the site of a Butlin's holiday camp during the second half of the 20th century and as the site for the national finals of the Community Games. By the early 21st century, the holiday camp had been converted into an accommodation centre for asylum-seekers. The village was served by Mosney railway station Mosney Railway Station opened in June 1948 to serve Butlin's Holiday Camp in County Meath, Ireland and closed in the summer of 2000, the last season during which the camp operated.
