Sean Turnell
Sean Turnell is an Australian economist and former economic policy advisor to State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi in Myanmar. He is also an honorary professor of economics at Macquarie University, a former staff member of the Reserve Bank of Australia, and the director of research at the Myanmar Development Institute. In 2009, the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies published his book on key periods in the history of Myanmar's financial sector, ''Fiery Dragons: Banks, Moneylenders and Microfinance in Burma''. Turnell was under detention in Myanmar between February 2021 and November 2022 for 650 days, charged with breaching the Myanmar Official Secrets act while working in an advisory capacity to Aung San Suu Kyi. The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is Australia's central bank and banknote issuing authority. It has had this role since 14 January 1960, when the ''Reserve Bank Act 1959'' removed the central banking functions from the Commonwealth Bank. Vice Admiral David Lance Johnston, (born 1962) is a senior officer in the Royal Australian Navy. He served as Deputy Commander Joint Task Force 633 on Operation Slipper in 2010, Commander Border Protection Command from 2011 to 2013 and, following promotion to vice admiral, was posted as Chief of Joint Operations from 2014 until 2018. Victoria Jane Bowman (née Robinson; born 12 June 1966) is a former British diplomat who served as List of ambassadors of the United Kingdom to Myanmar, UK Ambassador to Myanmar between 2002 and 2006. The 2022 Australian federal election was held on Saturday 21 May 2022 to elect members of the 47th Parliament of Australia.
