Sean Labanowski
Sean Leon Labanowski ( he, שון לבנובסקי; born December 9, 1992) is an Israeli-American professional basketball player for Hapoel Afula of the Israeli National League. Early life Labanowski was born in Boynton Beach, Florida. Labanowski lived his first 6 years in the United States before growing up in Hefer Valley, Israel. He played for Beitar Binyamina youth team and Sharet Netanya high school team. Labanowski joined Maccabi Tel Aviv youth team in his late teens. Professional career In 2010, Labanowski started his professional career with Maccabi Tel Aviv. On May 12, 2011, he made his professional debut in a playoff win over Barak Netanya. On September 8, 2011, Labanowski signed a three-year deal with Maccabi Haifa. On November 28, 2012, Labanowski was loaned to Maccabi Kiryat Bialik of the Israeli National League. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. Ken "Labo" Labanowski (קני לבנובסקי; born May 13, 1959) is an American-Israeli former basketball player. He played the forward position. He played for five seasons in the Israel Basketball Premier League. Biography Labanowski was from Oyster Bay, New York. He is 6' 8" (203 cm) tall. His son, Sean Labanowski, is also an Israeli-American professional basketball player; he plays for Hapoel Afula B.C., Hapoel Afula of the Liga Leumit (basketball), Israeli National League. He played high school basketball for Oyster Bay High School ('77). In a game against Carle Place High School on January 25, 1977, Labanowski scored 50 points as he shot 25 for 29 from the floor, and that season he led Nassau County, New York, with a scoring average of 31.4. He was a 2005 inductee into the Oyster Bay High School Hall of Fame.
