''Home and Away'' is an Australian television soap opera. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that appeared in 2015, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by the soap's executive producer, Lucy Addario. The 28th season of ''Home and Away'' began airing from 2 February 2015. Katarina Chapman and Ryan Kelly were introduced in the same month. Martin Ashford's sister, Billie Ashford arrived in April, while Charlotte King made her first appearance in June. James Edmunds and Charlotte's teenage son Hunter King made their debuts in July. Home And Away
''Home and Away'' (often abbreviated as ''H&A'') is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called ''Refuge'', but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of ''Home and Away'' once production began. The show premiered with a ninety-minute pilot episode (subsequently in re-runs and on VHS known as ''Home and Away: The Movie''). Since then, each subsequent episode has aired for a duration of twenty-two minutes. Summer Bay
Summer Bay is the fictional coastal town featured in the Australian soap opera, '' Home and Away''. Palm Beach, the most Northern beach of Sydney, is used for the show's exterior scenes in order to depict the Bay. Between 2010 and 2014, the Lane Cove River Tourist Park in Macquarie Park was used as the location for filming of scenes involving the Summer Bay Caravan Park. Shane Withington (born 22 August 1958) is an Australian actor, currently best known for playing surf lifeguard John Palmer in ''Home and Away'' on the Seven Network; his former role as Brendan Jones in the television series ''A Country Practice'', the Deputy Matron of Wandin Valley Hospital; as well as ''Willing and Abel'', as Abel Moore, and the sitcom '' The Family Business''. John Palmer is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Shane Withington. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 27 March 2009. Withington was introduced as a recurring cast member for twelve weeks. John was initially an angry father, but Withington thought that the character would not last if he continued that way, so began portraying him as "funny and very human". Kyle Braxton (also Bennett) was a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Nic Westaway.
