Sean Burrage
Sean Burrage currently serves as the Vice President for Executive Affairs at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Burrage was named as President of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma on May 15, 2014, by the Regional University System of Oklahoma Board of Regents. He began his duties on July 1, 2014. An Antlers native, Burrage completed his second term as an Oklahoma State Senator (District 2) in May 2014. He did not seek a third term in office. Southeastern Oklahoma State University (Southeastern, SE, or SOSU) is a public university in Durant, Oklahoma. It had an undergraduate enrollment of 4,824 in 2019. History On March 6, 1909, the Second Oklahoma State Legislature approved an act designating Durant as the location for a normal school to serve the following 12-county region: Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Latimer, LeFlore, Love, Marshall, McCurtain, McIntosh, Pittsburg, and Pushmataha. Michael Burrage
Billy Michael Burrage (born June 9, 1950), known as Michael Burrage, is an attorney and former United States district judge of all three districts of the United States district courts for Oklahoma: the Eastern, Western and Northern. He was appointed and confirmed in 1994 under President Bill Clinton. In 1996, he became Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Oklahoma, and served all three courts until his retirement in 2001. At that time, he returned to private practice, during which he also represented the Choctaw Nation as its general counsel and ambassador to the U.S. government. The Choctaw (in the Choctaw language, Chahta) are a Native American people originally based in the Southeastern Woodlands, in what is now Alabama and Mississippi. Their Choctaw language is a Western Muskogean language. Today, Choctaw people are enrolled in three federally recognized tribes: the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and Jena Band of Choctaw Indians in Louisiana. Steve Burrage (born July 7, 1952) is an American politician from Oklahoma and the Chairman of the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Burrage served as Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector upon his appointment to that post by Governor Brad Henry on July 10, 2008, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of former state auditor Jeff McMahan. Burrage served until his defeat in the 2010 general election by Republican Gary Jones. Early life Steve Burrage was born in Durant, Oklahoma.
