Sean Barrett (writer)
Sean Barrett (born 1959) is a writer, nucleonicist, former member of the Wikipedia Arbitration Committee, and the grandson of Linton Lomas Barrett. He is the author of ''GURPS Lensman: Starkly Astounding Space-Opera Adventure,'' a book of role-playing instructions carefully based upon the '' Lensman'' series by E.E. Smith, and authorized by Dr. Smith's literary executor, Verna Smith Trestrail. Arbitration Committee
On Wikimedia Foundation projects, an Arbitration Committee (ArbCom) is a binding dispute resolution panel of editors. Each of Wikimedia's projects are editorially autonomous and independent, and some of them have established their own ArbComs who work according rules developed by the project's editors and are usually annually elected by their communities. ArbComs generally address misconduct by administrators and editors with access to advanced tools, and a range of "Real life#As distinct from the Internet, real-world" issues related to harmful conduct that can arise in the context of a Wikimedia projects. Rulings, policies and procedures differ between projects depending on local and cultural contexts. According to the Wikimedia Terms of Use, users are not obliged to have a dispute solved by an ArbCom. Linton Lomas Barrett
Linton Lomas Barrett, Ph.D. (1 September 1904 – 8 March 1972) was an influential educator, administrator, diplomat, editor, Hispanist and translator of Romance languages. Life Barrett was born in Lanett, Alabama, the son of Linton Stephens Barrett, a Baptist minister and educator, and Carrie Elizabeth Barrett, née Lomas. He was known as "Lomas" to distinguish him from his father. He graduated from Mercer University, A.B. (''magna cum laude''), in 1928. Barrett married Elizabeth Elliott in 1929. She died in 1932 very soon after the birth of their only son, Arthur Lomas Barrett. His second wife was Cornelia, from whom he was soon divorced. He married Marie Hamilton McDavid on 26 May 1937, and their daughter, Ellen Marie Barrett, was born in 1946. Barrett earned his Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1938. USS ''Ohio'' (SSBN-726/SSGN-726), the lead boat of her class of nuclear-powered fleet ballistic missile submarines (SSBN), is the fourth vessel of the United States Navy to be named for the U.S. state of Ohio. She was commissioned with the hull designation of SSBN-726, and with her conversion to a guided missile submarine she was re-designated SSGN-726. Three Mile Island Accident
The Three Mile Island accident was a partial meltdown of the Three Mile Island, Unit 2 (TMI-2) reactor in Pennsylvania, United States. It began at 4 a.m. on March 28, 1979. It is the most significant accident in U.S. commercial nuclear power plant history. On the seven-point International Nuclear Event Scale, it is rated Level 5 – Accident with Wider Consequences. The accident began with failures in the non-nuclear secondary system followed by a stuck-open pilot-operated relief valve (PORV) in the primary system that allowed large amounts of nuclear reactor coolant to escape. The mechanical failures were compounded by the initial failure of plant operators to recognize the situation as a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA). The failure of operators is attributed to the out-of-the-loop performance problem. TMI training and procedures left operators and management ill-prepared for the deteriorating situation.
