Sean Ardoin
Sean Ardoin (Lake Charles, Louisiana, 1969) is an American Zydeco musician, singer and four-time Grammy Award nominee. He is best known for live performance appearances including Carnegie Hall, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and recording releases including Kreole Rock and Soul, and single, Kick Rocks. Early life Sean Ardoin was born in Eunice, Louisiana, and is a descendant of Amédé Ardoin, referred to as the Father of Zydeco by music scholars for laying the groundwork for Creole music in the early 20th century. Ardoin is also the descendant of noted creole musician Alphonse "Bois Sec" Ardoin and creole musician, Lawrence "Black" Ardoin (father). He is the older brother of hip-hop zydeco accordionist Chris Ardoin. Zydeco ( or , french: Zarico) is a music genre that evolved in southwest Louisiana by French Creole speakers which blends blues, rhythm and blues, and music indigenous to the Louisiana Creoles and the Native American people of Louisiana. Although it is distinct in origin from the Cajun music of Louisiana, the two forms influenced each other, forming a complex of genres native to the region. Characteristics Zydeco music is typically played in an uptempo, syncopated manner with a strong rhythmic core, and often incorporates elements of blues, rock and roll, soul music, R&B, Afro-Caribbean, Cajun, and early Creole music. Maison De Soul
Maison de Soul is a Louisiana-based Zydeco and blues record label. It was founded in 1974 in Ville Platte, Louisiana by Floyd Soileau and remains under his ownership. It is one of four record labels under Soileau's Flat Town Music Company umbrella, and combined the Flat Town labels make up "the largest body of Cajun, zydeco, and swamp music in the world".
