Seamester
Seamester (also known by the trade name Sea , mester) is part of the Global Expeditions Group, an organization that offers academic, study abroad programs on board three sailing vessels, ''Ocean Star (Schooner), Ocean Star'', ''Argo (Yacht), Argo'' and Vela. Sea, mester began running programs in 1998 as an extension from its sister organization ActionQuest. A full semester's course load is offered on board including classes in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Professional Skipper Certification Training, Leadership, Basic Seamanship, and an Independent Research Project. Courses are accredited through the University of South Florida (USF). Mission Sea, mester is an institution dedicated to the facilitation and development of practical watermanship skills and defining of academic interests in ocean and earth science, while offering college credit and promoting personal growth, teamwork and leadership through a distinctive, experiential educational program based upon active participat ...

Ocean Star (Schooner)
''Ocean Star'' is a two-masted schooner which conducts educational programs for Seamester Global Programs in the Caribbean Sea. The vessel is in overall length and accommodates sixteen trainees and four professional staff. ''Ocean Star'' is certified and inspected by the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency for ocean service. ''Ocean Star'' undergoes an annual refit in Antigua at Antigua Slipways Ltd. History ''Ocean Star'' was launched in 1991 as a school ship for Ocean Navigator Magazine. Over the years, she sailed the waters between Canada and the Caribbean, enabling students to learn navigation and nautical skills. She originally operated in the New England and Canadian waters during summer, and the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in winter, making frequent stops in Bermuda during her transits north and south. During her time with Ocean Navigator Magazine, she carried six adult students and was crewed by a licensed captain and mate, a navigation instructor, two deckhand ...

S/Y ''Argo'' is a two-masted Marconi rigged schooner. She is owned and operated by Seamester Study Abroad Programs as one of three sail training vessels the company operates. ''Argo'' is certified and inspected by the British Maritime and Coastguard Agency as a Category “0” vessel, allowing her unrestricted operation in the world's oceans. She is registered in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. History S/Y ''Argo'' was designed by Bill Langan as an inspiration of the schooner ''Black Douglas'' (now rechristened ''El Boughaz I''). The motivation and backing for the project came from the success experienced by Seamester's smaller schooner '' Ocean Star''. She was completed in June 2006 in Samut Prakan, Thailand at Marsun Shipyards. ''Argo'' is a two-masted staysail schooner that measures overall and accommodates twenty six students and seven professional crew on ocean voyages. Global Expeditions Group
Global Expeditions Group, or GXG, is the parent company of the Sea, mester, ActionQuest, and GoBeyond Student Travel brands. The company's origins began in 1985 with ActionQuest some years after its founder Jim Stoll left the Flint School. Over the course of the next 40 years ActionQuest expanded into several other brands including ARC, Sirius Sailing, Lifeworks International, and Sea, mester. In 2012 Global Expeditions Group was formed to organize all of the brands that had grown out of ActionQuest under one parent company. ActionQuest
ActionQuest is an organization which offers adventure programs for teenagers during the months of June, July and August. These programs include sail training, marine science, and SCUBA training courses in locations throughout the Caribbean, Australia, Ecuador and the Galapagos, Tahiti, and the Mediterranean.
