Seaford is a city located along the Nanticoke River in Sussex County, Delaware, United States. According to the 2010 Census Bureau figures, the population of the city is 6,928, an increase of 3.4% from the 2000 census. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the largest city fully within Sussex County and was voted the 28th Best Small Town in America. It hosted the Seaford Eagles of the Eastern Shore Baseball League. History Name origin Seaford is named after Seaford, East Sussex in England. Once in Maryland All land in current western and southern Sussex County was first settled as part of Maryland. Seaford, along with Bridgeville, Greenwood, Middleford, and others, were all part of Dorchester County in the Province of Maryland. Seaford Station Complex is a historic railway station complex and national historic district located at Seaford, Sussex County, Delaware. It includes two contributing buildings and two contributing structures and considered an outstanding example of a turn-of-the-20th century, unaltered, small-town railroad complex in Delaware. They are the Seaford Railroad Station, Seaford Freight Station, the Nanticoke River moveable railroad bridge, and mainline railroad tracks. The Seaford Railroad Station is brick rectangular building with a large bracketed overhang, built about 1905. The Seaford Freight Station was built about the same time, and consists of an open porch, covered by an arcaded extension of the roof, with an office and store room. Maston House
Maston House, also known as Cannon's Savannah, is a historic home located near Seaford, Sussex County, Delaware. It was built in 1727 and enlarged in 1733. It is a -story, single pile, brick structure with a gable roof in the "Resurrection Manor" style. As such, it resembles Maryland rather than Delaware houses. It has shed-roof dormers. The interior has wide floor boards and a narrow enclosed staircase winding around the chimney. It is one of Sussex County's oldest brick structures.
