Seaborn Jones
Seaborn Jones (February 1, 1788 – March 18, 1864) was a United States representative from Georgia. Born in Augusta, Georgia, he attended Princeton College and studied law. By a special act of the legislature, he was admitted to the bar in 1808. He commenced a legal practice in Milledgeville. Jones was appointed Solicitor General of the Ocmulgee circuit in September 1817, and was Solicitor General of Georgia in 1823. He was one of the commissioners appointed to investigate the disturbances in the Creek Nation; in 1827 he moved to Columbus, Georgia where he built his home El Dorado, later renamed St. Elmo. Jones was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third Congress, serving from March 4, 1833, to March 3, 1835. He was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth Congress, serving from March 4, 1845, to March 3, 1847. He died in Columbus, and was buried was at Linwood Cemetery. Charles Eaton Haynes
Charles Eaton Haynes (April 15, 1784 – August 29, 1841) was an American politician and physician. Early years and education Haynes was born in Brunswick, Virginia, in Mecklenburg County in 1784, Haynes graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and practiced medicine. Political career Haynes was elected as a Jacksonian Representative of Georgia to the 19th, 20th and 21st United States Congresses and served from March 4, 1825, until March 3, 1831. He lost his bid for reelection in 1830 to the 22nd Congress and ran another unsuccessful campaign for the 23rd Congress. Haynes returned to the U.S. Congress as a Jacksonian after winning election to the 24th Congress and reelection to that seat for the 25th Congress. His return to Congress spanned from March 4, 1835, until March 3, 1839. Rockmart, Georgia
Rockmart is a town in Polk County, Georgia, United States. Its population was 4,732 at the 2020 census. It developed as a railroad depot town when the Southern Railway built a station in the area. The community was incorporated in 1872, and was named from abundant deposits of slate in the area. The Rockmart Downtown Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Geography Rockmart is located at . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , of which is land and (0.69%) is water. Most of the town is in Polk County; parts of it also stretch into Paulding County. U.S. Route 278, and Georgia State Routes 101 and 113, are the major roads through the town.
