Sde Eliezer
Sde Eliezer ( he, שְׂדֵה אֱלִיעֶזֶר, lit. ''Eliezer's Field'') is a moshav in northern Israel. Located in the Hula Valley, it falls under the jurisdiction of Mevo'ot HaHermon Regional Council. In it had a population of . History Sde Eliezer was founded in 1950 by residents of Yesod HaMa'ala and Kiryat Shmona. Jewish immigrants from Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Poland and Romania also settled there. The moshav was named for Robert Rothschild, Robert (Eliezer) Rothschild, grandson of Edmond de Rothschild, founder of the Palestine Jewish Colonization Association (PICA). According to some sources the village was built on land which had been bought by PICA, while according to Walid Khalidi, it was established on land that had belonged to the depopulated Palestinians, Palestinian village of Al-Husayniyya, Safad, al-Husayniyya. Mevo'ot HaHermon Regional Council ( he, מועצה אזורית מבואות החרמון, ''Mo'atza Azorit Mevo'ot HaHermon'') is a Regional Council in the Northern District of Israel. It encompasses 13 moshavim and community settlements, from the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee, to the Lebanese border and Mount Hermon. Walid Khalidi
Walid Khalidi ( ar, وليد خالدي, born 1925 in Jerusalem) is an Oxford University-educated Palestinian people, Palestinian historian who has written extensively on the 1948 Palestinian exodus, Palestinian exodus. He is a co-founder of the Institute for Palestine Studies, established in Beirut in December 1963 as an independent research and publishing center focusing on the Palestine (region), Palestine problem and the Arab–Israeli conflict, and was its General Secretary until 2016. Khalidi's first teaching post was at Oxford, a position he resigned from in 1956 in protest at the British Suez Crisis, invasion of Suez. Moshavim
A moshav ( he, מוֹשָׁב, plural ', lit. ''settlement, village'') is a type of Israeli town or settlement, in particular a type of cooperative agricultural community of individual farms settler, pioneered by the Labor Zionism, Labour Zionists between 1904 and 1914, during what is known as the Second Aliyah, second wave of ''aliyah''. A resident or a member of a moshav can be called a "moshavnik" (). The moshavim are similar to kibbutzim with an emphasis on community labour. They were designed as part of the Zionist state-building programme following the green revolution Yishuv ("settlement") in the Mandatory Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine during the early 20th century, but in contrast to the collective farming kibbutzim, farms in a moshav tended to be individually owned but of fixed and equal size. Eli Marom
Eliezer (Eli) Marom ("Chayni") ( he, אליעזר "אלי" מרום "צ'ייני", born in 1955, Sde Eliezer, Upper Galilee, Israel) is the former Commander of the Israeli Navy serving from 2007–2011. As of 2015 he serves as the head of the Israel Airports Authority. Born in Sde Eliezer, Israel, Marom is of Chinese descent. He held the rank of Aluf in the Israeli Navy. Early life and family Marom was born and raised on moshav Sde Eliezer, in the Hula Valley. His father Erik was a German-born Jew and his mother Leah (originally Chai Li) was born in China, the daughter of a Russian-Jewish woman and a Han Chinese man who had converted to Judaism. The Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS) is the oldest independent nonprofit public service research institute in the Arab world.
