Scottsdale Unified School District
The Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) is a school district with its headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The district serves most of Scottsdale, most of Paradise Valley, a portion of Phoenix, and a portion of Tempe. Its 22 schools earning the state's highest rating, Excelling. All SUSD schools are rated as Performing, Performing Plus, Highly Performing or Excelling by the Arizona Department of Education. In 2011, SUSD was "moving toward making Algebra I available to all eighth-graders". The enrollment of the district has beedecliningover the last 23 years. Scottsdale High School
Scottsdale High School was a high school in Scottsdale, Arizona, located at Indian School Road and 74th Street. It opened in 1923 and closed in May 1983. The school site was demolished, and the land was redeveloped for commercial use. The school graduated its first class of students in 1923; two of the three were siblings, Bill and Murle Miller, the children of Charles L. Miller, a state legislator and civic figure whose family had donated the parcel for the establishment of the school. By the early 1980s, enrollment in the Scottsdale Unified School District was declining; the district's then-superintendent, Philip Gates, was in favor of closing Arcadia High School instead, but it was Scottsdale that was shuttered by a 3–2 board vote in January 1983, as its property value of $10 to $15 million was superior to that of Arcadia and the district was strapped for cash. Saguaro High School
Saguaro High School is a former A+ and Blue Ribbon Schools Program certified high school in the Scottsdale Unified School District in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States. Saguaro was opened in 1966. Sports Saguaro's varsity football program has won an Arizona state championship thirteen times (1995, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021). Desert Mountain High School (DMHS) is a public high school in northeast Scottsdale, Arizona which opened in the fall of 1995. It is the newest of five high schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District. The school has four computer labs, media studio, theater, college/career center, yearbook/newspaper production labs, child development department, business-regulated curriculum, off-school campus medical education facilities and extensive athletic facilities. Chaparral High School is a public high school located in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the United States. Its mascot is the firebird, and the school colors are black, red, and gold. Chaparral opened in February 1973 with 800 students, comprising freshman, sophomore, and junior classes. The principal was Spencer Saunders Sr. The initial structures were built at a cost of $3.5 million. Chaparral's first graduates were the class of 1974. Arcadia High School is a public high school in Phoenix, Arizona. The school enrolls 1,680 students, who mostly come from feeder schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District. History The school was built 1958/59. It was designed by local architect Mel Ensign and built by Gilbert & Dolan Construction Co.
