Anthony M. Scotto (; May 10, 1934 – August 21, 2021) was an American New York mobster and labor union racketeer in the Gambino crime family who ruled the Brooklyn waterfront. Early life Scotto grew up in the Red Hook Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn. His father worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation and was a union organizer. Scotto attended St. Francis Preparatory School in Brooklyn. At age 16, Scotto started working as a longshoreman on the Brooklyn waterfront. Scotto studied pre-law and political science at Brooklyn College for two years, then dropped out. In 1957, Scotto married Marion Anastasio, whose father was Capo Anthony Anastasio of what was the Anastasia crime family. Marion's uncle was boss Albert Anastasia. Rosanna Scotto (born April 29, 1958) is an American news anchor. She is the Co-host of ''Good Day New York'', on Fox 5 NY WNYW in New York City. She formerly hosted with Greg Kelly. Previously, she anchored the 5 and 10 pm news with Ernie Anastos, and the Fox 5 Live 11 am news. She has been the lead female news anchor since 1990. Recognized for her sense of style, her musicality, and as a remarkable singer-actress, Scotto is considered one of the preeminent singers of her generation. Girolamo Scotto (Hieronymus Scotus; also Gerolamo) (c.1505 – 3 September 1572) was an Italian printer, composer, businessman and bookseller of the Renaissance, active mainly in Venice. He was the most influential member of the firm of Venetian printers, the House of Scotto, which existed from the late 15th century until 1615. At its peak in the 1560s, the Scotto firm under Girolamo was one of the preeminent publishing firms of Europe, producing volumes on law, scholasticism, philosophy, medicine, theology, and ancient literature in addition to music. Daniel Scotto (September 14, 1952- July 10, 2018) was an American financial analyst. In August 2001, as an analyst with BNP Paribas, Scotto downgraded Enron securities from "Buy" to "Neutral". He took this action four months before the Enron accounting scandal was revealed that led to the company's bankruptcy. Scotto claims that he was fired due to this decision, a claim that is disputed by BNP Paribas. Vincent Scotto (21 April 1874 – 15 November 1952) was a French composer. Biography Early life Vincent Scotto was born on 21 April 1874 in Marseille to Pasquale Scotto d'Aniello and Antonia Intartaglia, from the island of Procida, north of the Gulf of Naples. Career He started his career in Marseille in 1906 and later moved to Paris. Over the course of a lifetime, he wrote 4,000 songs as well as 60 operettas. He was friends with Marcel Pagnol and wrote music for his films. Over time, he wrote music for about fifty films in the 1940s and 1950s, and he sometimes appeared in them as an actor. Born in Los Angeles and active in films from 1929, Scotto graduated from directing short subjects to Republic Pictures features in 1933. Scotto, Scotz, or Scot was a Genoese troubadour of the mid-thirteenth century. His identity is shrouded in obscurity and scholars have suggested that his full name was perhaps Ogerio Scotto, Alberto Scotto, or Scotto Scotti. A document of 25 September 1239 names Guglielmo (William), Corrado (Conrad), Balbo, and Scotto as four brothers of the Scotti family, lending credence to the last suggestion. In all copies of his only surviving work, his name appears in the Occitan rubrics as "Scotz".
