Scottish Communities League Cup
The Scottish League Cup (also known as the Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a association football, football competition open to all Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) clubs. First held in 1946–47 Scottish League Cup, 1946–47, it is the oldest national League Cup in existence. The competition had a straight knockout format but became a group and knockout competition from 2016–17 Scottish League Cup, 2016–17. Rangers F.C., Rangers are the record holders of the cup, winning 27 times. Celtic F.C., Celtic are the holders, winning their 20th title after beating Hibernian F.C., Hibernian 2–1 at Hampden Park on 2021 Scottish League Cup Final (December), 19 December 2021. The domestic television rights are held by Viaplay, whose predecessor company Premier Sports replaced BT Sport from the 2019–20 Scottish League Cup, 2019–20 season. 2022–23 Scottish League Cup
The 2022–23 Scottish League Cup (also known as the Premier Sports/Viaplay Cup for sponsorship reasons) is the 77th season of Scotland's second-most prestigious football knockout competition. Celtic are the defending champions. Schedule Format The format for the 2022–23 competition is similar to the previous six seasons; however, this season the group stage will not be regionalised. The competition began with eight groups of five teams. The five clubs initially competing in the UEFA Champions League (Celtic and Rangers), UEFA Europa League, Europa League (Heart of Midlothian F.C., Heart of Midlothian) and UEFA Europa Conference League, Europa Conference League (Dundee United F.C., Dundee United and Motherwell F.C., Motherwell) qualifying rounds will receive a bye to the second round.
