Scott Wingo
David Scott Wingo (born March 25, 1989) is an American college baseball coach and former professional baseball second baseman. He is currently an Assistant coach for the South Carolina Gamecocks under head coach Mark Kingston. Wingo played college baseball at the University of South Carolina from 2008 to 2011 winning back to back NCAA College World Series titles in 2010 and 2011 under head coach Ray Tanner. He then pursued a professional career from 2011 to 2014. Playing career Wingo attended Mauldin High School in Mauldin. He then attended the University of South Carolina, where he played for the South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team. He was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player for the 2011 College World Series. Wingo was drafted by the Dodgers in the 11th round (344th overall) in the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. South Carolina Gamecocks Baseball
The South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team represents the University of South Carolina in NCAA Division I college baseball. South Carolina has perennially been one of the best teams in college baseball since 1970, posting 33 NCAA Tournament appearances, 11 College World Series berths, 6 CWS Finals appearances and 2 National Championships: 2010 College World Series, 2010 and 2011 College World Series, 2011. Carolina is one of six schools in NCAA history to win back-to-back titles. Since joining the Southeastern Conference in 1992, the team has competed in the Eastern division. Jacksonville Dolphins
The Jacksonville Dolphins are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Jacksonville University, located in Jacksonville, Florida. The Dolphins participate in NCAA Division I athletics, and are primarily members of the ASUN Conference. Some teams in sports that are not sponsored by the ASUN play in other conferences; specifically, the men's and women's rowing teams are in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. North Greenville University
North Greenville University is a private Baptist university in Tigerville, South Carolina. It is affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention (Southern Baptist Convention). It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The institution awards bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. History NGU was founded in 1892 and named North Greenville High School, the first high school in the northern portion of Greenville County. Land for the school was donated by Benjamin F. Neves. Coastal Plain League
The Coastal Plain League (CPL) is a wood-bat collegiate summer baseball league, featuring college players recruited from throughout the nation. The league takes its name from the Class D level Coastal League which operated in the area from 1937 to 1952. History The modern Coastal Plain League was formed with six teams in 1997. The league has expanded over the years with teams across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia, with the 2023 addition of the Boone Bigfoots being the most recent expansion, bringing the league to 14 teams. Bock conceived the idea in the early 1990s while traveling long distances to the Valley Baseball League in Virginia to see his son, Jeff, play summer baseball. The Pioneer League is an independent baseball league that operates in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States. Its teams are not directly affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB). The 2011 Major League Baseball draft was held from June 6 through June 8, 2011, from Studio 42 of the MLB Network in Secaucus, New Jersey. Donald Ray Tanner Jr. (born March 25, 1958) is an American college athletics administrator and former baseball coach who is the athletic director at the University of South Carolina, a position he took on July 13, 2012, after 16 seasons as head coach of the university's baseball program. His record at South Carolina was 738-316 (.700). He led USC to three consecutive College World Series appearances in 2002, 2003, and 2004; three consecutive College World Series Finals appearances in 2010, 2011, and 2012; two College World Series Championships in 2010 and 2011; and coached the USA Baseball National Team during the 2003 summer.
