Scott Smith (born 21 July 1995) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Jeanfield Swifts in the East of Scotland Football League. Smith began his career with Dundee United and has also played for Forfar Athletic, Airdrieonians, Elgin City and Broughty Athletic. He also plays futsal for PYF Saltires and represents the Scotland national futsal team. Early life and career Smith was born in Perth and played for Longforgan Boys Club with future teammate Scott Fraser, before joining the Dundee United youth system. Youth coach Ian Cathro rated him as highly as Dundee United's most promising talents Ryan Gauld and John Souttar. He continued to impress and went on to sign a professional contract in June 2011. John Souttar
John Francis Souttar (born 25 September 1996) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Scottish Premiership club Rangers and the Scotland national team. He previously played for Dundee United and Heart of Midlothian before joining Rangers in 2022. Initially known as a central defender, Souttar was converted to play as a defensive midfielder towards the end of his stay at Dundee United, however he has more recently been deployed as a centre back for Hearts. He is the youngest player to have appeared for Dundee United's first team, having made his debut for the club in January 2013 at the age of 16. The Scottish League One, known as cinch League One for sponsorship reasons, is the third tier of the Scottish Professional Football League, the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish League One was established in July 2013, after the Scottish Professional Football League was formed by a merger of the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League. Format Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned league champion. If points are equal, the goal difference determines the winner. If this still does not result in a winner, the tied teams must take part in a playoff game at a neutral venue to determine the final placings. The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its football league system until 2021. Founded in 1886, the SJFA is responsible for disciplinary matters within the grade, certain player registration procedures and organising the annual Scottish Junior Cup.
