Scott Self
Scott Self (born August 4, 1979) is a retired Canadian professional lacrosse player who last played for the New England Black Wolves in the National Lacrosse League. Personal life Scott Self who started playing lacrosse when he was seven first picked up the sport when he watched his younger brother, Brad play it. Growing up, Self was very competitive in both hockey and lacrosse. In 1999, Self was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits while he was playing college hockey at the University of Guelph. International Scott Self played for team Canada. He won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2007 ILF World Indoor Lacrosse Championship when they beat the Iroquois Nationals 15-14 in overtime. Professional career Scott Self was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits 28th overall in the fourth round of the 1999 NLL Entry Draft, but didn't make an appearance until the 2001 NLL season, where he only made one. New England Black Wolves
The New England Black Wolves were a professional box lacrosse team based in Uncasville, Connecticut. They were members of the East Division of the National Lacrosse League and began play in the winter of 2014–2015 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville. The team was partially owned by the Mohegan Tribe of Indians of Connecticut, partially owned by Ted Goldthorpe, and partially owned by Brad Brewster. The Black Wolves relocated from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where they were known as the Philadelphia Wings from 1987 to 2014 and won 6 championships. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. Colin "Popeye" Doyle (born September 8, 1977) is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player and captain for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. National Lacrosse League (NLL) career Doyle was born in Kitchener, Ontario. He began his NLL career in 1998, playing for Ontario Raiders. He scored 34 goals and 27 assists, leading the Raiders in scoring. He was named NLL Rookie of the Year. In 1999, the Raiders moved to Toronto, becoming the Toronto Rock, where they won their first of 6 NLL Championships. Doyle finished first or second in Rock scoring every year from 1999 until 2005, and was named league MVP in 2005. He has been named playoff MVP an unprecedented three times — in 1999, 2002, and 2005. 2002 NLL Season
The 2002 National Lacrosse League season is the 16th season in the NLL. The season began on November 16, 2001 and concluded with the championship game on April 13, 2002, so, during that season, it was known as the 2001-2002 season as can be seen in the Albany Attack'2001-2002 Central Division Championship banner The Toronto Rock defeated the Albany Attack 13–12 to win their third championship in four seasons. Iroquois National Indoor Lacrosse Team
The Haudenosaunee Nationals Indoor Lacrosse Team, known as the Haudenosaunee Nationals, represents the Iroquois Confederacy in international box lacrosse competitions. They are currently ranked second in the world by World Lacrosse and have won Silver medals in all four World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. The team is organized by the First Nations Lacrosse Association. In June of 2022, the Nationals dropped Iroquois from their name, adopting the name the Haudenosaunee Nationals.
