Scott Morphett
Scott Morphett (born 24 March 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Woodville-West Torrens in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Morphett had to wait until the final round of the 1985 VFL season, against Fitzroy at Victoria Park, to make his debut. Geelong won the game by 23 points, and Morphett kicked a goal. He was let go by the club without adding to his one appearance, and he ended up at West Torrens, with whom he was the Best and Fairest winner in 1989. His club merged with Woodville to form Woodville-West Torrens in 1991, and he took out their inaugural Club Champion award. This was on the back of his Ken Farmer Medal–winning season up forward, where he kicked 99 goals to top the league's goal-kicking. Woodville-West Torrens Football Club
Woodville-West Torrens Football Club is an Australian rules football club playing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). It was formed in 1990 from an amalgamation of the neighbouring Woodville and West Torrens football clubs and played its inaugural game in 1991. Since 1993, the Eagles have played most of their home games at Woodville's home ground of Woodville Oval, having previously used Football Park. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). 1985 VFL Season
The 1985 VFL season was the 89th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 23 March until 28 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. The season was the first to feature premiership matches on Friday nights. The premiership was won by the Essendon Football Club for the 14th time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by 78 points in the 1985 VFL Grand Final. Victoria Park is a stadium, sports venue in Abbotsford, Victoria, Abbotsford, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The stadium is oval shaped and was built to host Australian rules football and cricket matches. In the past Victoria Park featured a cycling track, tennis courts, and a baseball club that once played curtain raisers to football matches. West Torrens Football Club
West Torrens Football Club was an Australian rules football club that competed in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) from 1897 to 1990. In 1991, the club merged with neighbouring Woodville Football Club to form the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles. With the proposed introduction of representative Districts for clubs in the SAFA the Native Club in 1896 derived its name from Electoral district of West Torrens and based itself in the western suburbs of Adelaide, around the western reaches of the River Torrens. Full-forward is a position in Australian rules football and Gaelic football with a key focus on kicking goals. The Coleman Medal is awarded to the player, often a full-forward, who has kicked the most goals in an Australian Football League season.
