He is known for writing songs about vehicles, rural life, down-and-out characters, lost love and quirky rural folk. James Gordon is a Canadian singer-songwriter, known as a founding member of Tamarack. He has also released more than 20 solo albums. Musical career As a prolific songwriter, James Gordon is known for such diverse songs as "Sweaters for Penguins" and "Frobisher Bay". He wrote the weekly song for the CBC Radio program ''Basic Black''. He is proficient on a variety of instruments including guitar, piano, banjo and mandola. The Barmitzvah Brothers are a Canadian indie pop band from Guelph. Known for their use of fiddle as well as unusual and homemade instruments, and for their quirky and original lyrics focusing on everyday life, the working world and ordinary people. The band's sound crosses many genres. History The band was formed in April 2000 and originally consisted of three members. Ian Tamblyn (born December 2, 1947) is a Canadian folk music singer-songwriter and record producer, adventurer and playwright. Early life Tamblyn was born and raised in Fort William (now Thunder Bay), Ontario, and studied at Trent University, graduating in 1971 and subsequently settling in Chelsea, Quebec. Career Tamblyn released a demo cassette, ''Moose Tracks'', in 1971. In 1976, he released his first full-length album, ''Ian Tamblyn'', which won a Juno Award for Best Album Cover that year. Arthur Barrow (born February 28, 1952) is a multi-instrumental musician, best known for his stint as a bass guitar player for Frank Zappa in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Early life Barrow was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1952 and grew up in Alamo Heights, Texas, Alamo Heights. His father played piano and organ, as had his father, Arthur Barrow of Buffalo, New York, a strict piano teacher and organist. When he was 13, he washed neighborhood cars until he had saved enough money to buy his first electric guitar (an Alamo) and his first amplifier (a Kent).
