Scott Jones (U.S. Politician)
Scott Robert Jones (born August 10, 1967) is an American attorney, politician, and former law enforcement officer who served as the sheriff of Sacramento County, California from 2010-2022. Jones was first elected in 2010, winning re-election to his post in 2014 and again in 2018. Early life and education Jones was raised in Southern California and moved to Sacramento with his family as a child. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from the California State University, Sacramento and a Juris Doctor from the Lincoln Law School of Sacramento in 1998. Career Jones joined the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department in 1989. During his tenure, he has served in corrections, patrol, and legal affairs. Sacramento County Sheriff's Department
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office (SSO), is a local law enforcement agency that serves Sacramento County, California. It provides general-service law enforcement to unincorporated areas of Sacramento County, as well as incorporated cities within the county that have contracted with the agency for law-enforcement services. Currently only Rancho Cordova, and Isleton has such a contract with the department since the Citrus Heights and Elk Grove Police Departments assumed all police authority and responsibility for their communities in 2006. California's 3rd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in California. John Garamendi, a Democrat, has represented the district since January 2013. Effective January 2023, California's 3rd congressional district will include much of the Sierra Nevada and many of the northeastern suburbs of Sacramento, stretching south to Death Valley. It encompasses Alpine, Inyo, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, and Sierra counties, as well as parts of El Dorado, Sacramento, and Yuba counties.
