Scott Fulhage
Scott Alan Fulhage (born November 17, 1961) is a former National Football League punter who played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1987 to 1988 and the Atlanta Falcons from 1989 to 1992. College career Scott played college football at Kansas State University and is one of four players to be the starting punter four years straight. Professional career Scott Fulhage went undrafted in 1987 after a very successful college career and was signed in the off season by the Cincinnati Bengals. Fulhage was part of the 1988 Cincinnati Bengals team that made a run to Super Bowl XXIII, where the Bengals fell to the San Francisco 49ers 20-16. In the Super Bowl, Fulhage punted 5 times for 221 yards. Fulhage was considered one of the most consistent punters in 1989, leading the NFC with 24 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line, and finishing third in the NFL with 84 attempts. A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snap (gridiron football), snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then Punt (gridiron football), punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. A fumble in gridiron football occurs when a player who has possession and control of the ball loses it before being downed (tackled), scoring, or going out of bounds. By rule, it is any act other than passing, kicking, punting, or successful handing that results in loss of ball possession by a player. In gridiron football, a punt is a kick performed by dropping the ball from the hands and then kicking the ball before it hits the ground. The most common use of this tactic is to punt the ball downfield to the opposing team, usually on the final down, with the hope of giving the receiving team a field position that is more advantageous to the kicking team when possession changes. The National Football Conference (NFC) is one of the two conferences of the National Football League (NFL), the highest professional level of American football in the United States. The NFC and its counterpart, the American Football Conference (AFC), each contain 16 teams organized into 4 divisions.
