Scott Burcham
Scott Hunter Burcham (born June 17, 1993) is an American-Israeli professional baseball shortstop for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He also plays for Team Israel. In high school, Burcham was named the top defensive shortstop in the Greater Los Angeles Area by the ''Los Angeles Times''. In college at Sacramento State, he was voted to the 2015 Preseason All-Western Athletic Conference Team. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 25th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft. Burcham started at shortstop for Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifier. He played for Team Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. In November 2019, he obtained Israeli citizenship so that he could play for Team Israel at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6. Brian Serven
Brian Nicholas Serven (born May 5, 1995) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Serven was drafted by the Rockies in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2022. Early life Serven was born in Palm Desert, California. He is childhood friends with infielder Scott Burcham. He attended Palm Desert High School where he led the Aztecs to the California Interscholastic Federation championship his junior year in 2012. Lancaster JetHawks
The Lancaster JetHawks were a baseball team located in Lancaster, California. They were named for the city's association with the aerospace industry and played their home games at The Hangar. From 1996 to 2020, they were members of Minor League Baseball's California League, a Class A-Advanced league affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB). With MLB's reorganization of the minor leagues after the 2020 season, Lancaster was not selected to continue in affiliated baseball, and ultimately folded. The Asheville Tourists are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville teams have played under the Tourists moniker in different leagues and classifications for over a century, with the earliest dating to 1897. In baseball, a sacrifice bunt (also called a sacrifice hit) is a batter's act of deliberately bunting the ball, before there are two outs, in a manner that allows a baserunner to advance to another base. The batter is almost always put out, and hence sacrificed (to a certain degree that is the intent of the batter), but sometimes reaches base on an error or fielder's choice. In that situation, if runners still advance bases, it is still scored a sacrifice bunt instead of the error or the fielder's choice. In baseball and softball, a double play (denoted as DP in baseball statistics) is the act of making two outs during the same continuous play. Double plays can occur any time there is at least one baserunner and fewer than two outs.
