Scotsburn (Easter Ross)
Scotsburn is a locality in Victoria, Australia. It is approximately from Ballarat on the Midland Highway toward Geelong. Its local government areas are the Shire of Moorabool and the City of Ballarat. History Located at the foot of Mount Buninyong, it was named after the Scott family which settled in the area around 1840. Andrew and Celia Scott, who arrived in Australia in 1839, established a cattle farm of . The Scotts had received £2,070 9S 2D as compensation for emancipated slaves in Tobago from the British West Indies, "under the will of Thos. Bird". Thomas Bird appears to have been Celia Scott's grandfather, and his inheritance was split between her and her two sisters. After a period of growing potatoes in 1841-42 during poor financial times, in 1843 the Scott family began to run sheep. The Electoral district of Eureka is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2021, and came into effect at the 2022 Victorian state election. It largely covers the area of the abolished district of Buninyong, covering the east and southeast suburbs of Ballarat, including the suburbs of Eureka, Brown Hill, Ballarat East, Golden Point, Canadian, Mount Pleasant, Mount Clear, Mount Helen and Buninyong. Mount Buninyong
Mount Buninyong is an extinct volcano in western Victoria, Australia rising to AHD. It lies within the Mount Buninyong Scenic Reserve, north of the town of Buninyong and south of Ballarat, on the regional city's rural-urban fringe. Snow falls on Mt. Buninyong on average 6 days a year, and in heavy winters it may be snowcapped for a short period.
