Barbara Scofield
Barbara Scofield (born June 24, 1926) is an American former tennis player. Scofield learned playing tennis at age 11 by taking lesson at the Golden Gate Park. With the Argentine Enrique Morea, Scofield won the mixed doubles at the French Championships in 1950, and the following year, she was a runner-up in the women's doubles event with Beryl Bartlett. Scofield‘s best singles result at the Wimbledon Championships was reaching the quarterfinals in 1950, losing to third-seeded Doris Hart. In the doubles event, she reached the semifinals in 1948 and 1951, partnering Helen Rihbany and Betty Rosenquest respectively. Scofield won the singles title at the 1955 Eastern Grass Court Championships in South Orange, New Jersey. Edward Scofield
Edward Scofield (March 28, 1842February 3, 1925) was an American lumberman and Republican politician. He was the 19th governor of Wisconsin (1897–1901) and served in the Wisconsin State Senate, representing Door, Marinette, and Oconto counties. Earlier in life, during the American Civil War, he served as an officer in the Union Army. Early life Scofield was born in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, on March 28, 1842. He became a printer's apprentice at a newspaper in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and worked in the newspaper business for a number of years. Hiram Scofield (July 1, 1830 – December 30, 1906) was a lawyer and Union Army officer during the American Civil War. He entered the Army as a private in 1861 and was discharged as a colonel on January 5, 1866. In February 1866 he was nominated by President Andrew Johnson for appointment to the rank of brevet brigadier general of volunteers and the United States Senate confirmed the appointment in April 1866. Scofield ( ) is an unincorporated community in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Exeter Township. As an unincorporated community, Scofield has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own. Geography Scofield is located in south-central Exeter Township within rural Monroe County. It is centered along the intersection of Scofield Road and Sumpter Road about northwest of the city of Monroe. The community sits at an elevation of above sea level. Scofield is a town in Carbon County, Utah, United States. The population was 23 at the 2010 census. Scofield's name is frequently applied to the 1900 mine disaster in the Pleasant Valley Coal Company's Winter Quarters mine. The community was named for ''General Charles W.
