Scofield ( ) is an unincorporated community in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Exeter Township. As an unincorporated community, Scofield has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own. Geography Scofield is located in south-central Exeter Township within rural Monroe County. It is centered along the intersection of Scofield Road and Sumpter Road about northwest of the city of Monroe. The community sits at an elevation of above sea level. The Helser Drain and Ross Drain run through the community, which provide drainage into Stony Creek. The main branch of Stony Creek runs about one mile (1.6 km) north of the center of the community. The community of Scofield is served by Monroe Public Schools at the northern edge of the district's boundaries. Scofield does not contain its own post office and uses the Maybee 48159 ZIP Code. The Chicago and Canada Southern Railway was a planned extension of the Canada Southern Railway west from Grosse Ile, Michigan to Chicago, Illinois. The line was only built to Fayette, Ohio, and was later split between the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railway and Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway. Steiner, Michigan
Steiner was a small farming settlement in what is now Frenchtown Charter Township, Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The village no longer exists but some structures remain and are in use. It was situated at the intersection of Steiner Road and Laduke Road near the current CSX Railroad crossing at . The village of Steiner was located about five miles north of Monroe Michigan, and was centered around the Steiner Depot of the Pere Marquette Railroad. Steiner was founded by and named for William Steiner in 1873. A post office opened on September 7, 1886 with John Kohler as the first postmaster. The office closed on July 31, 1925. At one time the town had a railroad depot, creamery, granary, freight scales, a saw-mill, basket factory, pottery and brick works, a saloon (the Steiner Inn), the Laduke general store and the Steiner Post Office. Carleton is a village in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,326 at the 2020 census. The village is located within Ash Township. History The community was first platted in 1872 by Daniel Matthews, who also worked previously to select Lansing as the state capital.
