Yak Ballz
Yak Ballz, born Yashar Zadeh is an American independent hip hop artist, who was brought up in Flushing, Queens, New York. He is one of the original members of The Weathermen. He is also a member of Cardboard City. Since 2019 he has worked for Warner Bros. Records as Vice President of their Media & Strategic Development team. Early life and education Yak turned to writing as an outlet for expression and a form of therapy due to his mother being overprotective about their neighborhood in Queens at the time. At the age of 16 he entered the Braggin' Rites MC battle; he took second place and was the youngest person in the competition. Aesop Rock
Ian Matthias Bavitz (born June 5, 1976), better known by his stage name Aesop Rock, is an American rapper and producer from Long Island, New York. He was at the forefront of the new wave of underground and alternative hip hop acts that emerged during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was signed to El-P's Definitive Jux label until it went on hiatus in 2010. In a 2010 retrospective, betterPropaganda ranked him at number 19 at the ''Top 100 Artists of the Decade''. He released his first album, ''Music for Earthworms'', in 1997, with ''Float'' following 3 years later. ''Labor Days'', his third studio album, was released on September 18, 2001. Camu Tao
Tero Smith (June 26, 1977 – May 25, 2008), better known by his stage name Camu Tao, was an American rapper, singer, and producer. Early life Tao was born Tero Smith in Columbus, Ohio, on June 26, 1977. Career Tao was signed to Definitive Jux. He was a member of several groups: S.A. Smash, The Weathermen, Central Services (with El-P), and the music collective Cardboard City. He was also part of the MHz crew with Copywrite, RJD2, Jakki tha Motamouth, and Tage Future. Partnering with Cage to form Nighthawks, the two crafted an album during a single three-day creative session. Death Tao died of lung cancer at the age of 30 on May 25, 2008, two years after being diagnosed. Legacy At the time of his death, Tao was producing a song for Cage's '' I Never Knew You'' EP and working on his first solo album for Definitive Jux. Christian Palko (born May 4, 1973), better known by his stage name Cage, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor from Middletown, New York. With a majority of his career being spent with record labels Definitive Jux and Eastern Conference. He has released six solo albums, in addition to two compilation albums and two EPs. Aside from his solo career, Cage is one of the founders of the underground hip hop supergroup The Weathermen, which was formed in 1999. Rahem Ross Brown (March 20, 1970 – November 6, 2022), better known by his stage name Tame One, was an American hip hop recording artist and graffiti artist from New Jersey. He was a member of Artifacts, Leak Bros, and the hip-hop supergroup The Weathermen. Peter Toh
Peter Toh (born September 21, 1981) is an American musician, songwriter, record producer and singer. From New York, he started writing and producing songs before he was in high school. He toured the US with The Stryder, releasing two albums on Equal Vision Records. He then went on to produce and release two solo EPs independently, titled ''Cleopatra'' and ''Shoes of A Beast''. Toh appeared on Lil Mama's '' Voice of the Young People'' (Familiar Faces/Jive) as an artist/writer/producer, with the song "Truly in Love", and was also a featured artist on Queens rapper Yak Ballz album, ''Scifentology II'', on the song "A Billion Ways". He is the co-founder of the internet video company Hidden Track TV, and in late 2009, Toh started a new band called Planes.
