Johannes Schöner
Johannes Schöner (16 January 1477, in Karlstadt am Main – 16 January 1547, in the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg) (aka, Johann Schönner, Johann Schoener, Jean Schönner, Joan Schoenerus) was a renowned and respected German polymath. It is best to refer to him using the usual 16th-century Latin term "mathematicus", as the areas of study to which he devoted his life were very different from those now considered to be the domain of the mathematician. He was a priest, astronomer, astrologer, geographer, cosmographer, cartographer, mathematician, globe and scientific instrument maker and editor and publisher of scientific tests. Johannes Schöner Globe
The Johannes Schöner globes are a series of globes made by Johannes Schöner (1477–1547), the first being made in 1515. Schöner's globes are some of the oldest still in existence. Some of them are said by some authors to show parts of the world that were not yet known to Europeans, such as the Magellan Strait and the Antarctic. Two exemplars survive, one at the Historisches Museum in Frankfurt and the other at the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek, at Weimar. There can be little doubt that Schöner was familiar with the globe made in Nuremberg by Martin Behaim in 1492. George Schoener
George Schoener, or Georg Schöner (March 21, 1864 – October 2, 1941) was a Germany, German-born Roman Catholic priest who became known in the United States as the "Padre of the Roses" for his experiments in Santa Barbara Independent, rose breeding, especially in the use of wild species. Only two of his creations survive today, however: Rosa 'Arrilaga', 'Arrilaga' and Rosa 'Schoener's Nutkana', 'Schoener's Nutkana'. He was born into a peasant family of Steinach, Baden-Württemberg, Steinach, Baden Germany, Baden. He studied in Engelberg Abbey, Engelberg and Einsiedeln Abbey, Einsiedeln from 1883 to 1889. An aunt enabled him to emigrate to America, where he became a priest in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Afflicted with illnesses, he ended up in Brooks, Oregon in 1911, where the rose growing activity in nearby Portland, Oregon, Portland caught his interest. Rosa 'Schoener's Nutkana'
''Rosa'' 'Schoener's Nutkana' is a deep pink rose variety named after Father Georg Schöner (1864–1941), a priest who became a notable rose breeder, who developed this rose in 1930 as a cross between ''Rosa nutkana'' and the hybrid perpetual 'Paul Neyron' (Levet, 1869). This hybrid nutkana is a shrub rose with large, single flowers, five-petalled but sometimes with another one or two, reaching an average diameter of . Their colour is light to carmine-pink with a large circle of yellow stamens. The long-lasting flowers are moderately fragrant, develop from small, pointed buds, and appear in small clusters of two to five on short strong stems in a spring or summer flush with some scattered flowers later on. In autumn, the shrub sports rose hips. The plant tends to be a tall, sprawling shrub, with very few thorns on its arching shoots and small light to medium grey-green foliage with seven leaflets. Eberhard Schoener
Eberhard Schoener (born May 13, 1938, Stuttgart) is a German musician, composer, conductor, and arranger. His activities combine many styles and formats. Originally a classical violinist and conductor of chamber music and opera, he was one of the early adopters and popularizers of the Moog synthesizer in Europe. In the 1970s he traveled to Indonesia and incorporated musical elements from Asia into his own work. He has collaborated with rock musicians such as Jon Lord and The Police and also with Electronic Music German Pioneer band Tangerine Dream on an orchestral arrangement for the "Mojave Plan" track for a live performance on a German TV show.
