Schumacher Racing Products (or just Schumacher) is a British manufacturer of radio-controlled cars and accessories with a primary focus on high-end racing products. History Foundation The founder, Cecil Schumacher, was a Cosworth transmission engineer who was recruited from Borg Warner to lead the design team to adapt the Hobbs transmission (which he had worked on) to handle the Cosworth DFV's power. Cecil spotted his workmates driving radio-controlled cars on the company's helipad and decided it needed a ball differential after noticing the cars skittered. He soon started noticing large areas that these early primitive cars could be improved. Having noticed high tyre wear he introduced the ball differential to radio-controlled cars. These ball differentials were used by his son Robin then his friends then local model shop requested to stock it and soon international orders followed. Schumacher Menace GTR
The Schumacher Menace GTR is a radio-controlled car made by Schumacher Racing Products, powered by a nitro fuel engine. It is essentially a Schumacher Menace made into an on-road car. This is accomplished using lower shock towers, shorter dampers, different tires, wheels and other small adjustments. The result is an on-road car that is just as fast as the Schumacher Fusion in a straight line speed but that can corner a lot faster due to its wider chassis and more stable nature. Schumacher also produce an electric powered version, the Schumacher GTRe, which is similar in design but with a 540-size electric motor. The GTRe also includes the three-speed gearbox and disc brake system, something which is highly unusual for an electric RC-car of this type—electric on-road cars usually use motor braking and no gearbox. Schumacher Fusion
The Schumacher Fusion is an on-road 1:10 scale nitro-powered radio-controlled car made by Schumacher Racing Products. It is the fastest ready-to-run 1:10 on-road car created as of 2008, featuring a 0.28 in³ (4.6 cm³) engine capable of producing 2.85 horsepower (2.12 kW) at 33,000 rpm. It is four-wheel drive with a three-speed gearbox, making it capable of speeds in excess of 80 mph (130 km/h) and 0-60 mph (0–100 km/h) times in less than two seconds. The "E-start" system is used to start the engine, this means the starter is operated using a portable electric drill. The gearbox is not natively adjustable, the only way of adjusting it is to open it and change the springs themselves. British Radio Car Association
The British Radio Car Association (or BRCA) is an organisation that promotes the construction and racing of all types of radio controlled cars in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1971 by Ted Longshaw and Keith Plested, who was also the founder of PB Racing, a manufacturer of RC cars; they coordinate BRCA affiliated clubs in the UK, and offer insurance for any accidents that might occur.
