Imperial Schrade
Imperial Schrade Corp. was an American knife manufacturer of hunting knives, pocketknives, utility knives, and bayonets during the 20th and early 21st centuries. The consolidation of five forerunner companies, including its namesakes, the Imperial Knife Company, founded 1916, and the Schrade Cutlery Company, founded in 1904, Imperial Schrade manufactured its products in the United States and Ireland and sold through hardware stores, department stores, and on military bases. The original company's fortunes declined and in 2004 it entered into bankruptcy where all equipment and intellectual property was sold off to reimburse creditors. The name and intellectual property (but not the factory nor equipment) was bought by Taylor Brands and used for marketing purposes. Christian Schrade
Christian Schrade (29 May 1876 – 10 April 1962) was a German architect. The focus of his work was on church buildings. Life Schrade was born in Mehrstetten, a small village approximately 65 km (40 miles) to the south-east of Stuttgart. His father was a wheelwright. Between 1896 and 1900 he was a student at the Stuttgart Technical Academy (Stuttgart University) and at the Munich Technical University. His teachers at Stuttgart included Gustav Halmhuber, the man who designed the (locally) iconic Friedrichsplatz Water Tower in Mannheim. He received a two-year travel bursary from the government which enabled him to study Italian Renaissance architecture. After that he was employed by the architectural partnership of and Carl Nordmann, based in Essen. Leo Schrade
Leo Schrade (13 December 1903 – 21 September 1964) was a German-born American musicologist. Among his notable publications are critical editions of works by Guillaume de Machaut and Francesco Landini, the former of which he established the standard numbering scheme for. He also wrote ''Monteverdi: Creator of Modern Music'' on Claudio Monteverdi; a controversial but influential work on Monteverdi's place in the history of Western classical music. Biography He was born in Allenstein, East Prussia (today Olsztyn), then part of the German Empire. From 1923 he studied musicology in several universities—University of Heidelberg, University of Munich, and University of Leipzig—and also took courses at the Mannheim Conservatory. His teachers included Adolf Sandberger. He took the doctorate at the University of Leipzig in 1927, and then taught musicology first at the University of Königsberg, and then at the University of Bonn. Ulrich Schrade
Ulrich Schrade (21 July 1943 in Patricken / East Prussia (now Patryki, Poland) – 15 November 2009 in Warsaw, Poland) was a Polish philosopher, educationist and ethicist. Born in Patryki. In the years 1961-1966 he studied economics under Boleslaw Kasprowicz at the Higher School of Economics in Sopot, Poland); from 1966-1969 he worked at the creation of the tire plant in Olsztyn; in the years 1969-1974 he studied philosophy under Bogusław Wolniewicz at the University of Warsaw. Since 1974 he worked at the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences at the Warsaw University of Technology. At this university he is considered to be the founder of a specific current of philosophy of science and technology and a major contributor to the theory of higher education.
