School District Of Rhinelander
The School District of Rhinelander (SDR) is located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Approximately 2,900 students are enrolled. In 2005 a referendum to keep three local schools open failed, combining fourth and fifth grade students into one intermediate school and all of the kindergarten-third grade students into two schools. In 2008 another referendum failed resulting in budget cuts to the High School's pool and field house. Again in 2010 the district ran a referendum, this time passing, allowing the secondary schools to remain in separate buildings. In late 2010 the school district was given a grant, resulting in 13.7 million dollars of heavy renovation throughout the district. Rhinelander is a city in and the county seat of Oneida County, Wisconsin, Oneida County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 8,285 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. History The area that eventually became the city of Rhinelander was originally called Pelican Rapids by early settlers, named for the stretch of rapids just above the convergence of the Wisconsin and Pelican Rivers. Northwoods Community Secondary School
Northwoods Community Secondary School (NCSS) was an American charter school in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Founded in 2003, the school offered a project-based curriculum. In 2011 the Rhinelander Environmental Stewardship Academy was moved to NCSS due to a significant decrease in enrollment and the resignation of the head teacher. Despite the passing of a 2010 referendum to keep NCSS at its location, it was decided in 2012 that the school would be moved to the Rhinelander High School. The school closed at the end of the 2017 school year. Curriculum Northwoods Community Secondary School offered public enrollment to approximately 90 students between 6th and 12th grade. The curriculum was independent project-based learning, as an alternative to lecture-based instruction. Rhinelander High School
Rhinelander High School (RHS) is a high school in Rhinelander, Oneida County, Wisconsin United States. History The first Rhinelander High School was built in 1889. It was named Rhinelander Union High School (RUHS) and the building was commonly known as Old Central. It stood on what is now Saroca Park. When the school began it had just two teachers and fewer than 80 students. By 1912, attendance had grown to over 215 students. The school was demolished to accommodate increased enrollment.
