Scholar And Feminist Online
The ''Scholar and Feminist Online'' is an online academic journal covering feminist theories and Feminist movement, movements. It is published triannually by the Barnard Center for Research on Women and was established in January 2003. The journal makes extensive use of multimedia elements and recruits a guest editor from outside Barnard College for each issue. In May 2003, director Janet Jakobsen told the ''Chronicle of Higher Education'': "Our mission was to act as a combination of public feminism and academic feminism... The feminist movement (also known as the women's movement, or feminism) refers to a series of social movements and political campaigns for Radical politics, radical and Liberalism, liberal reforms on women's issues created by the inequality between men and women. Such issues are Women's liberation movement, women's liberation, reproductive rights, domestic violence, Parental leave, maternity leave, Equal pay for women, equal pay, women's suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence. Barnard Center For Research On Women
The Barnard Center for Research on Women (BCRW) is a nexus of feminist thought, activism, and collaboration for scholars and activists. Since its founding in 1971, BCRW has promoted women's and social justice issues to its local communities at Barnard College and within New York City. It is a member organization of The National Council for Research on Women. History The Women's Center opened in the fall of 1971. Barnard College
Barnard College of Columbia University is a private women's liberal arts college in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Janet Jakobsen
Janet R. Jakobsen is a scholar of gender and sexuality. She is Ann Whitney Olin Professor of Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Barnard College and Director of Barnard's Center for Research on Women. She has also been Barnard's Dean for Faculty Diversity and Development. Biography Jakobsen received her doctorate from Emory University. She taught at Wesleyan University before moving to Barnard. Jakobsen's partner was the Wesleyan professor of English and professor of feminist, gender and sexuality studies Christina Crosby, until Crosby's death in 2021.
