Schneekloths Skole
Schneekloths Skole was a school which under changing names existed between 1854 and 1992 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Its former premises on Værnedamsvej in Frederiksberg now houses the French-language school Lycée Français Prins Henrik. History The school was founded by Hans Schneekloth on 2 May 1854 as "Realskolen for Frederiksberg og Vesterbro". It was initially based on Vesterbrogade but a new, purpose-built school building on Værnedamsvej (No. 13B) was inaugurated in 1856. It was soon expanded with a grammar school whose first students graduated in 1863. The name of the school was changed to "Schneekloths Latin- og Realskole" in 1882. It moved to a new building away from the street on the same lot (Mo. 13A) in 1885. Its old building (No. 13B) was purchased by Aksel Mikkelsen and turned into a teacher training college under the name Dansk Sløjdlærerskole in 1886. Johannes Schmidt (biologist)
Ernst Johannes Schmidt (2 January 1877 – 21 February 1933) was a Danish biologist credited with discovering in 1920 that European eels migrate to the Sargasso Sea to spawn. Before this people in North America and Europe had wondered where the small glass eels, or elvers, came from. Biography Schmidt was born at Jægerspris, Denmark, son of Ernst Schmidt and Camilla Ellen Sophie Schmidt (born Kjeldall and sister to the chemist Johan Kjeldahl). Schmidt began his studies of natural history at the University of Copenhagen under professor of botany Eugen Warming (1841–1924), and obtained an MS degree in biology in 1898. He obtained a grant from the Carlsberg Foundation to study the flora of the coastal areas of Ko Chang in then Siam, including both mangrove trees and microalgae. He made his doctoral thesis in biology and botany, on shoot architecture of mangrove trees and Eugen Warming served as faculty opponent in October 1903. Brian Laudrup
Brian Laudrup (, born 22 February 1969) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a winger, forward or as a midfielder, and was regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation. He currently works as a football commentator, pundit and analyst on Kanal 5 and 6'eren. Laudrup manages a football academy for marginalised youth, along with former international goalkeeper Lars Høgh. Michael Laudrup
Michael Laudrup (, born 15 June 1964) is a Danish professional football coach and former player. He is considered to be one of the greatest players of all time. He is the older brother of fellow retired footballer Brian Laudrup. During his playing career, Laudrup won league titles with Ajax, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus, playing mainly as an attacking midfielder, although he was also capable of playing in other attacking positions. Lars Barfoed (; born 4 July 1957) is a Denmark, Danish politician representing the Conservative People's Party (Denmark), Conservative People's Party and was the party's leader from 2011 to 7 August 2014. He was Justice Minister of Denmark from February 2010 to October 2011, and Prime Minister of Denmark, Deputy Prime Minister of Denmark from January to October 2011. He also served as Minister for Family and Consumer Affairs of Denmark, Minister for Family and Consumer Affairs from 18 February 2005 to 14 December 2006. Keld Heick
Keld Heick (born 24 February 1946 in Frederiksberg) is a Danish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known for his contribution to the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, where he has submitted over 30 songs. In 1963 Heick formed the band ''Keld & the Donkeys''. The band's big breakthrough came in 1966 with the song "Ved landsbyens gadekær" (eng. "At the village pond"). In 1976 he decided to merge his professional and personal life, when he made a duo with his wife Hilda Heick. They made their debut with the hit "Do you speak English?" and later had another hit with "Jeg ringer på fredag" (eng. "I'll call you this Friday"). Besides the music Keld Heick has also worked as a tv host. In 1996-1997 he was the host of '' Lykkehjulet'' the Danish version of ''Wheel of Fortune''. Frank Jæger
Frank Jæger (19 June 1926 - 4 July 1977) was a Danish writer most known for his poetry and radio plays. He received the Grand Prize of the Danish Academy in 1969. He also edited two volumes of ''Heretica'' magazine with Tage Skou-Hansen. Early life and education Jæger was born in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen on 19 June 1926. Harald Giersing
Harald Giersing (24 April 1881 – 15 January 1927) was a Danish painter. He was instrumental in developing the classic modernism movement in Denmark around 1910-1920. He is remembered as one of Denmark's most important 20th-century artists both for his portraits and landscapes. Life and development Giersing, who died at the early age of 45, was driven by a desire to concentrate on change and beauty. Unable to find support in religion, he adopted modernism as an existential approach as to how art could fill the void for those without faith in God.
