Schloss Gripsholm
''Schloss Gripsholm. Eine Sommergeschichte'' ( Gripsholm palace: A summer story) is the title of a story (''Erzählung'') by Kurt Tucholsky, published in 1931. It is a love story with comic and melancholic elements, reminiscent of the author's first novel, '' Rheinsberg: Ein Bilderbuch für Verliebte''. Plot The book begins with a fictional correspondence of an author and his publisher, Ernst Rowohlt. with Rowohlt encouraging Tucholsky to write another light and cheerful love story, and Tucholsky replying that he could offer a summer story. The following story covers a summer vacation of Kurt, called Peter and narrating in the first person, with his friend Lydia, called by him almost always "''die Prinzessin''" (the princess), in Sweden. After train and ferry rides, they arrive at Gripsholm palace where they spend around three weeks. They are visited there by Kurt's old friend Karlchen, and later Lydia's best friend Billie. Kurt Tucholsky
Kurt Tucholsky (; 9 January 1890 – 21 December 1935) was a German journalist, satirist, and writer. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Kaspar Hauser (after the historical figure), Peter Panter, Theobald Tiger and Ignaz Wrobel. Tucholsky was one of the most important journalists of the Weimar Republic. As a politically engaged journalist and temporary co-editor of the weekly magazine ''Die Weltbühne'' he proved himself to be a social critic in the tradition of Heinrich Heine. He was simultaneously a satirist, an author of satirical political revues, a songwriter and a poet. He saw himself as a left-wing democrat and pacifist and warned against anti-democratic tendencies – above all in politics, the military – and the threat of National Socialism. Jasmin Tabatabai ( fa, یاسمین طباطبائی ; born 8 June 1967 in Tehran, Iran, is a German actress and singer. Biography Jasmin Tabatabai's mother is German, and her father is Iranian. ''Gripsholm'' is a 2000 Swiss film directed by Xavier Koller based on the Kurt Tucholsky's novel Schloss Gripsholm and reflection into final part of his real life. From Xavier's own words, "The subject of the story is partly the autobiographical story of the aggressive publisher Kurt (Tucholsky), who in the year 1932 travels to Sweden together with his girlfriend Lydia, whom he calls "Princess". Variety singer Billie and air-pilot Karlchen follow later on to join-up with the couple. There now begins a sensuous life and games of love in the last summer before the national socialists take over power in Germany. Walter Giller
Walter Giller (23 August 1927 – 15 December 2011) was a German actor. He was very successful in the 1950s and 1960s, when he was often seen as a comedic leading man. One of his most successful and more serious roles was in ''Roses for the Prosecutor''. Giller was born in Recklinghausen. In 1956, he married actress Nadja Tiller; they had two children and appeared together in a number of films. The couple resided in Lugano, Switzerland for many years. In 2009, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He underwent a major (but unsuccessful) operation. He died in Hamburg in 2011, aged 84.
