Bob Schieffer
Bob Lloyd Schieffer (born February 25, 1937) is an American television journalist. He is known for his moderation of presidential debates, where he has been praised for his capability. Schieffer is one of the few journalists to have covered all four of the major Washington national assignments: the White House, the Pentagon, United States Department of State, and United States Congress. His career with CBS has almost exclusively dealt with national politics. He has interviewed every United States President since Richard Nixon, as well as most of those who sought the office. Schieffer has been with CBS News since 1969, serving as the anchor on the Saturday edition of ''CBS Evening News'' for 20 years, from 1976 to 1996, as well as the Chief Washington Correspondent from 1982 until 2015, and moderator of the Sunday public affairs show, ''Face the Nation'', from 1991 until May 31, 2015. Rudolf Schieffer
Rudolf Schieffer (31 January 1947 – 14 September 2018) was a German historian specializing in medieval history. From 1994 to 2012 he was president of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica. Biography Rudolf Schieffer was the son of the historian Theodor Schieffer. He graduated from high school (''Abitur'') in 1966, and studied history and Latin between 1966 and 1971 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Philipps-Universität Marburg. He received his doctorate in 1975 in Bonn, his dissertation, ''Die Entstehung von Domkapiteln in Deutschland'', supervised by Eugen Ewig. From 1975 to 1980 he worked at the Monumenta Germaniae Historica (MGH). His habilitation, for ''Die Entstehung des päpstlichen Investiturverbots für den deutschen König'', took place in 1979 at the University of Regensburg. Theodor Schieffer
Theodor Schieffer (11 June 1910 in Bad Godesberg – 9 April 1992 in Bad Godesberg) was a German historian. He was professor of medieval history at the University of Mainz, then at the University of Cologne, and since 1952 he was president of the Association for Middle Rhine Church History. He is the author of ''Winfrid-Bonifatius und die christliche Grundlegung Europas'', the authoritative biography of Saint Boniface. Biography Schieffer studied history, Romance studies, and classical philology in Bonn, Berlin, and Paris. Bad Godesberg ( ksh, Bad Jodesbersch) is a borough ('' Stadtbezirk'') of Bonn, southern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Slate
Slate is a fine-grained, foliated, homogeneous metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. It is the finest grained foliated metamorphic rock. Foliation may not correspond to the original sedimentary layering, but instead is in planes perpendicular to the direction of metamorphic compression. The foliation in slate is called "slaty cleavage". It is caused by strong compression causing fine grained clay flakes to regrow in planes perpendicular to the compression. When expertly "cut" by striking parallel to the foliation, with a specialized tool in the quarry, many slates will display a property called fissility, forming smooth flat sheets of stone which have long been used for roofing, floor tiles, and other purposes.
