Edwin Scheier
Edwin Scheier (November 11, 1910 – April 20, 2008) was an American artist, best known for his ceramics (art), ceramic works with his wife, Mary Scheier. Early life Edwin Scheier was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York, to a Jewish German immigrant father, and an American mother. Scheier's father died shortly after his son's birth. Although his mother remarried, Scheier was left to his own devices, and dropped out of school before high school, in order to make a living. During the Great Depression, he criss-crossed the nation before returning to New York City. Although never formally trained, Scheier attended free seminars at Cooper Union, and also worked for a silversmith and a ceramicist. He often examined works in the city's museums, and first, and briefly, met his future wife, Mary Goldsmith, in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Libby Scheier
Libby Scheier (May 31, 1946 – November 14, 2000) was a Canadian poet and short story writer. Personal life She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and studied at Sarah Lawrence College and the State University of New York. During the sixties, Scheier interest and involvement in women's rights and pacifism grew. Robert Priest and Beverley Daurio were her friends of over twenty years. Her son Jacob Scheier is also a poet. He won the Governor General's Award for English language poetry in 2008 for his debut collection ''More to Keep Us Warm''. In 2000 after a struggle with breast cancer, Scheier died in Toronto at the age of fifty-four. Mary Scheier (née Mary Goldsmith; May 9, 1908 – May 14, 2007) was a noted American ceramicist, and the wife and artistic partner of Edwin Scheier. Monique Scheier-Schneider
Monique Scheier-Schneider (born 15 October 1954) is a Luxembourgish ice hockey administrator. She has served as president of Tornado Luxembourg and negotiated the team's entry into the French Division 3. She became secretary of the Luxembourg Ice Hockey Federation, managing the Luxembourg men's national ice hockey team at international competitions. She was later elected to the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) council, oversaw the 2010 Winter Olympics Women's ice hockey tournament, and presided over the 2011 IIHF Women's World Championship. She was honored by the IIHF with the Paul Loicq Award in 2015 for her contributions to international ice hockey. He previously served as the Bowling Green interim head coach during the 2013 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, as Dave Clawson had left to take the head coaching job at Wake Forest University.
