Alan Schechter
Alan Schechter (born 1936) is a political scientist. He is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. He was educated at Amherst College, where he received his AB, and at Columbia University, where he earned his PhD. Schechter was Hillary Rodham's advisor during her years at Wellesley College and supervised her senior thesis; Susan Estrich's book '' The Case for Hillary Clinton'' mentions her experience also writing an honors thesis for Schechter (at a different time). He remains involved with the college, running the Wellesley in Washington internship program, in which Rodham participated as a student and which continues to send approximately twenty women to Washington for internships each summer. Sarah Schechter
Sarah Schechter is the first female rabbi in the U.S. Air Force. She joined the Air Force as a chaplain candidate, and became a chaplain when she was ordained as a Reform rabbi in 2003. Her father was an Air Force chaplain in 1960. She grew up in Manhattan, and decided to join the military immediately after the September 11 attacks, calling a recruiter on September 12. Her daughter Yael Emunah was born during her military service. In 2013, she became the Jewish chaplain of the 11th Wing at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, and was featured on the chaplain section of the Air Force website. She wrote the piece "Personal Reflection: A Rabbi in the Military", which appears in the book ''The Sacred Calling: Four Decades of Women in the Rabbinate'', published in 2016. Peter Schechter (born 1959) is an American political consultant and the executive producer and host of Altamar, a foreign policy podcast. Until June 2017, he was the Atlantic Council's Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and the founding director of the Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center, a Washington-based think tank launched in October 2013 to study the trends transforming Latin America. Born in 1959 in Rome, Schechter was raised in Italy, Bolivia, and Venezuela. He has a Master's from the Johns Hopkins’ Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. Ofer Shechter ( he, עפר שכטר; April 8, 1981) is an Israeli actor, stand-up comedian, television host, and former model. Early life Shechter was born and raised in moshav Hadar Am, Israel, to a family of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. At the age of seven, Shechter took part in a commercial for a watermelon ice pop which was broadcast on Israeli television. Mathilde Roth Schechter (also Matilda; December 16, 1859 – August 27, 1924) was the American founder of the U.S. National Women's League of Conservative Judaism in 1918. Biography Schechter was born in Breslau, Prussia (now Wrocław, Poland). She was married to Dr. Solomon Schechter, a prominent rabbi who was chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTSA). Schechter (born December 16, 1951) is a Canadian epidemiologist recognized for contributions to research about HIV prevention and treatments, addiction research, and Indigenous health research. He is a professor and was the founding director of the School of Population and Public Health in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
