''Papilio aristodemus'', the Schaus' swallowtail or island swallowtail, is a species of American butterfly in the family Papilionidae. It is found in southern Florida in the United States and throughout the West Indies. It is named in honor of William Schaus. Molly Schaus
Molly Patricia Schaus (born July 29, 1988) is an American retired ice hockey goaltender and coach. As a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team, she was a two-time Olympic medalist and five-time World Championship medalist. She was drafted 2nd overall by the Boston Blades in the 2011 CWHL Draft. Early life Schaus was born in Voorhees, New Jersey and shortly after moved to the Minneapolis, Minnesota. There she learned to skate on the back yard pond with her brothers, Mike and Steve. At age 7 she and her family relocated to Naperville, Illinois and began her early years of formal hockey. During these years Molly played hockey for Team Illinois. She again relocated after her freshman year in high school (Benet Academy of Lisle, Illinois) to Natick, Massachusetts. Nick Schaus
Nicholas Charles Schaus (born July 3, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey player who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He most recently playing for the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL. Playing career Undrafted, Schaus spent four years at UMass Lowell (Hockey East) from 2006–10, recording 65 points (10-55) and 220 penalty minutes in 148 career games. On March 22, 2010, he was signed as a free agent by the San Jose Sharks. After a season in the American Hockey League with Sharks affiliate, the Worcester Sharks, Schaus signed a one-year contract to remain in the AHL on July 5, 2011, with the Syracuse Crunch. Unable to earn an NHL contract, Schaus embarked on a European career, signing a contract with Norwegian club, the Stavanger Oilers for the 2013–14 season on February 8, 2013. Eugène Schaus
Eugène Schaus (12 May 1901 – 29 March 1978) was a Luxembourgian politician and jurist. Schaus was a leading light in the early days of the Democratic Party, of which he would be President from 1952 until 1959. Schaus held office in a number of governments, under Pierre Dupong and Pierre Werner, over a period of thirty years. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister, a position created especially for Schaus, in Werner's first government. He would serve in this capacity again (1969–1974), as well as holding a number of other high offices. Career An experienced lawyer, Schaus was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1937, in which he served until 1940, when the country was occupied by Nazi Germany and the Chamber was suspended. William Schaus (January 11, 1858 in New York City – June 20, 1942) was an American Entomology, entomologist who became known for his major contribution to the knowledge and description of new species of the Neotropical realm, Neotropical Lepidoptera. Frederick Appleton Schaus (June 30, 1925 – February 10, 2010) was an American basketball player, head coach and athletic director for the West Virginia University Mountaineers, player for the National Basketball Association's Fort Wayne Pistons and New York Knicks, general manager and head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach of Purdue University basketball, and a member of the NCAA Basketball Committee. He was born in Newark, Ohio. College career Schaus played basketball at West Virginia, where he earned the record of first to score 1,000 career points (1,009). Lambert Schaus
Lambert Schaus (18 January 1908 – 10 August 1976) was a Luxembourg politician, jurist, and diplomat. He held office as a government minister and European Commissioner. Schaus was born in Luxembourg City to a jeweller. He studied jurisprudence in Paris, and also in Bonn for one term. In 1932 Schaus was appointed as a lawyer at the Luxembourgish court of appeal. Prior to the Second World War Schaus was active in local politics as a Luxembourg town councillor. When Schaus refused to support the occupation of Luxembourg by Germany, he was arrested in 1941 by the Gestapo and interned in a labour camp where he worked to build motorways. Later he was made an office assistant in the district administration office of Cochem and was later stationed in labour camps in the Sudetenland and Black Forest areas. The first Werner-Schaus Ministry was the government of Luxembourg between 2 March 1959 and 15 July 1964. It was a coalition between the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), and the Democratic Party. It was formed after the general election of 1959. Magdalene Schauss-Flake
Magdalene Schauss-Flake (25 July 1921 – 24 September 2008) was a German composer and organist who gave recitals throughout the United States and Europe. Biography Schauss-Flake was born in Essen, where she studied church music at the Folkwang School while working as a jazz musician in bars. Her teachers included Hans Chemin-Petit, Siegfried Reda, and Ludwig Weber. She married a minister named Schauss and they had three children. Schauss-Flake taught at a music academy in Szczecin, Poland, and worked as a church musician in Germany in Anklam, Essen-Altendorf, and Essen-Kupferdreh. She gave organ recitals throughout the United States and Europe. She is buried in Burgsponheim, Germany. The Dupong-Schaus Ministry was the government of Luxembourg between 1 March 1947 and 3 July 1951. It was a coalition between the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), and the Democratic Group.
