Mike Schank
Mikel Joseph Schank (August 3, 1969 – October 13, 2022) was an American actor and musician. He was close friends with independent filmmaker Mark Borchardt and helped Borchardt make the 1997 short horror film ''Coven (1997 film), Coven''. He appeared with Borchardt in the 1999 documentary film ''American Movie'', for which Schank also provided music. A resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Schank later appeared in the films ''Storytelling (film), Storytelling'' (2001) and ''Hamlet A.D.D.'' (2014), and made a cameo appearance as himself alongside Borchardt in a 2006 episode of ''Family Guy''. As a musician, Schank recorded three homemade CDs, including ''Dreams I Know—Yesternight'' (2009), which features Schank playing acoustic guitar along with drum loops, Sampling (music), samples, and spoken recollections of his dreams. Roger Schank
Roger Carl Schank (born 1946) is an American artificial intelligence theorist, cognitive psychologist, learning scientist, educational reformer, and entrepreneur. Beginning in the late 1960s, he pioneered conceptual dependency theory (within the context of natural language understanding) and case-based reasoning, both of which challenged cognitivist views of memory and reasoning. In 1989, Schank was granted $30 million in a 10-year commitment to his research and development by Andersen Consulting, through which he founded the Institute for the Learning Sciences (ILS) at Northwestern University in Chicago. Academic career For his undergraduate degree, Schank studied mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA, and later was awarded a PhD in linguistics at the University of Texas in Austin and went on to work in faculty positions at Stanford University and then at Yale University. John Schank
Admiral John Schank (6 February 1823) was an officer of the British Royal Navy known for his skill in ship construction and mechanical design. Biography He was the son of Alexander Schank of Castlerig, Fife, Scotland. He entered the Royal Navy when young. His remarkable skills at mechanical design earned him the nickname "Old Purchase" following his design and construction of a cot fitted with pulleys that allowed it to be adjusted by the person lying in it. As a lieutenant in 1776, he was placed in charge of assembling ships to battle the American Revolutionaries on Lake Champlain. In less than six weeks, he constructed , which he then commanded as part of a fleet that defeated General Benedict Arnold's fleet in October 1776.
