Grimsel Pass
The Grimsel Pass (german: Grimselpass; french: Col du Grimsel; it, Passo del Grimsel) is a mountain pass in Switzerland, crossing the Bernese Alps at an elevation of . The pass connects the Haslital, the upper valley of the river Aare, with the upper valley of the Rhône. In so doing, and as the Aare is a tributary of the Rhine, the pass crosses the continental divide between the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. A paved road follows the pass, running from Gletsch to Meiringen. The road is normally closed between October and May, due to the high snowfall on the pass. As it is the only direct road pass between the cantons of Bern and Valais across the Bernese Alps, attempts are made to keep the road open as long as possible with snow ploughs. Schafberg (BE, Boltigen)
The Schafberg is a mountain peak above Boltigen located on the border between the cantons of Fribourg and Berne, north of Jaun. With a height 2,239 metres above sea level, it is the highest summit on the range lying north of the Jaun Pass. It is also the most isolated mountain in the canton of Fribourg. Schafberg (Löbau)
The Schafberg is a hill, , east of Löbau in the Saxon county of Görlitz. Together with the neighbouring Löbauer Berg () it forms a single hill unit. History The story of a rock formation used for the calendrical observation of the sun has been passed down from a prehistoric period. This rock formation is known today as the ''Geldkeller'' ("money cellar") and serves as the basis for several legends. In addition, there are the remains of an approximately 3000-year-old ring wall on the mountain, which once served to protect a Bronze Age settlement. For centuries the hill was used as pasture for cattle and sheep, which is why it is also known as the Schafberg. Due to the fact that the hill has only a few springs, keeping livestock was difficult. One of the few places where water could be found on the hill was the spring of ''Rinnelbrunnen'', which was used as a drinking trough. After 1850, keepign animals on the hill was no longer allowed.
