Scenic Central Conference
The Scenic Central Conference is a former high school athletic conference in Wisconsin, founded in 1958 as an all-sport circuit and ending operations in 1979. Members were concentrated in the state's Driftless Area and affiliated with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. History 1958-1971 The Scenic Central Conference was originally formed in 1948 as a football-only conference among four small schools in western Wisconsin: Hillsboro High School (Wisconsin), Hillsboro, New Lisbon High School, New Lisbon, Westby High School (Wisconsin), Westby and Wonewoc-Center High School, Wonewoc. Athletic Conference
An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams which play competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller Division (sport), divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 AFL Women's season, 2019 and 2020 AFL Women's season, 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played. The system was controversial because it allowed some weak teams to make finals, and strong teams from the other conference missed out on finals. It was because of this that the conference system was removed for the 2021 AFL Wo ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   [Amazon] |

Royall High School
Elroy is a city in Juneau County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Baraboo River and at the east end of the Elroy-Sparta State Trail. The population was 1,356 at the 2020 census. History Elroy was named in 1858, supposedly after a place in Scotland. By another account, the original residents chose "LeRoy" as the name for the community and its post office, but were informed that another community in the state had that name already. Switching the first two letters was suggested and adopted. A post office called Elroy has been in operation since 1862. Elroy was for many years an important railroad hub in the area. The Baraboo Air Line Railroad reached Elroy in the 1870s. The Air Line was later acquired by the Chicago and North Western Railway and the line was pushed on to Sparta, Wisconsin. It eventually became the main line of the CNW between Chicago, Illinois and Winona, Minnesota. The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway also became a presence in Elroy when it ... Membership was concentrated in the Driftless Area of the state, and all members belonged to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. History 1907-1953 The Kickapoo Valley League was formed in 1907 as an oratorical and track and field league by four small high schools in Crawford County and Vernon County in southwestern Wisconsin: La Farge, Seneca, Soldiers Grove and Viola. The original members were all located along the Kickapoo River, a tributary of the Wisconsin River that the conference derives its name from. North Crawford High School (Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin)
North is one of the four compass points or cardinal directions. It is the opposite of south and is perpendicular to east and west. ''North'' is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. Etymology The word ''north'' is related to the Old High German ''nord'', both descending from the Proto-Indo-European unit *''ner-'', meaning "left; below" as north is to left when facing the rising sun. Similarly, the other cardinal directions are also related to the sun's position. The Latin word ''borealis'' comes from the Greek ''boreas'' "north wind, north" which, according to Ovid, was personified as the wind-god Boreas, the father of Calais and Zetes. ''Septentrionalis'' is from ''septentriones'', "the seven plow oxen", a name of ''Ursa Major''. The Greek ἀρκτικός (''arktikós'') is named for the same constellation, and is the source of the English word ''Arctic''. Other languages have other derivations. For example, in Lezgian, ''kefer'' can mean both ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   [Amazon] |

A relatively short-lived conference, the Vacationland was founded in 1966 and disbanded in 1970, and all members were part of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. Three of the conference's charter members were formerly in the Central-C Conference (Adams-Friendship, Tri-County and Westfield) and two came from the Scenic Central Conference (New Lisbon and Royall). Nekoosa and Wautoma later joined from the South Central and Central Wisconsin Conferences, respectively. Efforts to find an eighth member ended in vain, and the Vacationland Conference began the 1966-67 school year with seven schools. They formed a stable memb ...
