Scattered (The Kinks Song)
"Scattered" is a song by the British rock band The Kinks. Written by Ray Davies, "Scattered" appeared as the sixteenth track from their album ''Phobia'', and was the band's final original single (only to be followed by reissues of " You Really Got Me" and " Waterloo Sunset".) Background On its appearance on ''Phobia'', "Scattered" is dedicated to Annie Florence Davies (Ray Davies' mother) and Carol Bryans (a friend of Davies's.) Both died due to cancer. Ray Davies claimed that "Scattered" took ten years to write. Author Thomas Kitts believes that the song was initially inspired by Ray Davies' broken relationship with Pretenders leader Chrissie Hynde. Release "Scattered" was first released in Europe as a single in 1993, 21 days prior to the release of ''Phobia''. The song was then released on ''Phobia'' as the closing track (except for Japan and the UK, where "Did Ya" was added as a bonus track, making "Scattered" the penultimate track). After the release of the song " Onl ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Scattered Radiation
Scattering is a term used in physics to describe a wide range of physical processes where moving particles or radiation of some form, such as light or sound, are forced to deviate from a straight trajectory by localized non-uniformities (including particles and radiation) in the medium through which they pass. In conventional use, this also includes deviation of reflected radiation from the angle predicted by the law of reflection. Reflections of radiation that undergo scattering are often called ''diffuse reflections'' and unscattered reflections are called ''specular'' (mirror-like) reflections. Originally, the term was confined to light scattering (going back at least as far as Isaac Newton in the 17th century). As more "ray"-like phenomena were discovered, the idea of scattering was extended to them, so that William Herschel could refer to the scattering of "heat rays" (not then recognized as electromagnetic in nature) in 1800. John Tyndall, a pioneer in light scattering resear ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Scattered Space
In mathematics, a scattered space is a topological space ''X'' that contains no nonempty dense-in-itself subset. Equivalently, every nonempty subset ''A'' of ''X'' contains a point isolated in ''A''. A subset of a topological space is called a scattered set if it is a scattered space with the subspace topology. Examples * Every discrete space is scattered. * Every ordinal number with the order topology is scattered. Indeed, every nonempty subset ''A'' contains a minimum element, and that element is isolated in ''A''. * A space ''X'' with the particular point topology, in particular the Sierpinski space, is scattered. This is an example of a scattered space that is not a T1 space, T1 space. * The closure of a scattered set is not necessarily scattered. For example, in the Euclidean plane \R^2 take a countably infinite discrete set ''A'' in the unit disk, with the points getting denser and denser as one approaches the boundary. For example, take the union of the vertices of a ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
