Scars Of Mirrodin
Scars of Mirrodin is a ''Magic: The Gathering'' block, consisting of the expansion sets ''Scars of Mirrodin'' (October 1, 2010), ''Mirrodin Besieged'' (February 4, 2011) and ''New Phyrexia''. This block marked the return to the plane of Mirrodin. This plane was last visited in the Mirrodin block that concluded in 2004. The interim tagline for the set was "The Corrosion Begins October 1, 2010." The plans for this set were first made public by ''mananation.com'' when it was discovered that "Scars of Mirrodin", as well as "Mirrodin Pure" and "New Phyrexia" had been registered as trademarks with the US Patent and Trademark Office by Wizards of the Coast. As with the original Mirrodin block, artifacts make up the overarching theme of ''Scars of Mirrodin''; Nearly half of all cards in the set are artifacts. Mark Rosewater
Mark Rosewater (born May 25, 1967) is the head designer for ''Magic: The Gathering'', a position he has held since 2003. Biography Rosewater grew up in Pepper Pike, Ohio. In his youth, he worked as a professional magician. Rosewater has described his young self as a "social outcast" whose intelligence and small size led to bullying, and he never naturally lost his baby teeth, which had to be surgically removed. Despite these difficulties, he became a successful high school student at Orange High School with numerous scholarship offers. He attended Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication. Career Television After graduating, Rosewater started his career in television as a runner. Mirrodin is the name of the ''Magic: The Gathering'' expert-level block containing the ''Mirrodin'' (October 2, 2003, 306 cards), ''Darksteel'' (February 6, 2004, 165 cards) and ''Fifth Dawn'' (June 4, 2004, 165 cards) List of Magic: The Gathering sets#Expansion sets, expansion sets. Zendikar
The Zendikar block is a '' Magic: The Gathering'' block consisting of the sets ''Zendikar'' (October 2, 2009), ''Worldwake'' (February 5, 2010), ''Rise of the Eldrazi'' (April 23, 2010). The eponymous setting is a vast, untamed wilderness, whose few bastions of civilization exist primarily for outfitting treasure-seeking expeditions to distant locales. Colossal ancient octahedral stones called "hedrons" float in the sky (hedrons are the expansion symbols for all three blocks). A phenomenon known as "the Roil" causes frequent geological upheaval as it sweeps across the land. Tom LaPille (born August 27, 1985) is a former ''Magic: The Gathering'' developer at Wizards of the Coast. He led the development on Magic 2012, Dark Ascension, and Masters Edition III, Modern Masters 2015, and Eternal Masters.
