Savo Mitrovic (born February 4, 1969) Profile ohttp://www.eliteprospects.com//ref> is a Serbian-Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Savo Mitrovic contributed greatly to University of New Hampshire men's hockey from 1988 through 1992. He was awarded the 1992 Charles E. Holt Coaches Award. Mitrovic played for the Greensboro Monarchs and Huntsville Blast in the ECHL, the Phoenix Mustangs of the West Coast Hockey League, the Detroit Falcons and Port Huron Border Cats of the Colonial Hockey League, and the Odessa Jackalopes of the Western Professional Hockey League The Western Professional Hockey League (abbreviated WPHL) is a defunct minor professional ice hockey league. Greensboro Monarchs
The Greensboro Monarchs were a professional ice hockey team based in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Monarchs joined the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) as an expansion franchise prior to the start of the 1989–90 season and surrendered the franchise back to the league when the Monarchs ownership obtained an expansion franchise in the American Hockey League (AHL) at the conclusion of the 1994–95 ECHL season. History The Monarchs played in the ECHL from 1989 until 1995, reaching the playoffs in every season. They won the Riley Cup league championship in their inaugural season, beating the Winston-Salem Thunderbirds four games to one. Goalie Wade Flaherty was named playoff MVP.
