Saverio Zupi
Saverio Zupi (9 January 1914 – 1 March 1983) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1943 to 1966. Biography Saverio Zupi was born on 9 January 1914 in Cerisano, Italy. He was ordained a priest on 19 December 1936. He studied at the Almo Collegio Capranica in Rome. To prepare for a diplomatic career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1938. He joined the diplomatic service in 1943, working first in the offices of the Secretariat of State. His overseas postings then took him to Costa Rica, Lebanon, and Belgium before his returned to the Secretariat for a time. On 26 October 1960, Pope John XXIII named him Apostolic Delegate to Korea. While Zupi was serving in Korea, Pope John named him titular archbishop of Serra. Holy See
The Holy See ( lat, Sancta Sedes, ; it, Santa Sede ), also called the See of Rome, Petrine See or Apostolic See, is the jurisdiction of the Pope in his role as the bishop of Rome. It includes the apostolic episcopal see of the Diocese of Rome, which has ecclesiastical jurisdiction over the Catholic Church and the sovereign city-state known as the Vatican City. Giuseppe Mojoli
Giuseppe Mojoli (31 August 1905 – 9 March 1980) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Giuseppe Mojoli was born in Covo in the Province of Bergamo on 31 August 1905. He was ordained a priest on 18 March 1928. He worked in the Roman Curia in the liturgical department of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, from 1931 to 1960. His specialty was the Ethiopian Church and he helped develop Ethiopian editions of the Missal and other texts. On 27 September 1960, Pope John XXIII appointed him Apostolic Internuncio to Ethiopia and a titular archbishop. He received his episcopal consecration on 28 October from Pope John. In Ethiopia he turned from scholarship to supporting Catholic parishes and missions. On 8 March 1969, his title was changed to Apostolic Pro-Nuncio. Cerisano
Cerisano is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy. History According to some hypotheses, the town was founded by the Oenotrians, around the fifteenth century BC. In this account, Cerisano would have been known to the Greeks as the Citerium, Citerion. The first surviving written records mentioning Cerisano date back to 1247. In the feudal period, Cerisano was under the jurisdiction of various lords. Later, under the rule of Louis III of Anjou, there was a brief period of autonomy when Cerisano was owned by the De Matera, followed by the Sanseverino family of Bisignano. The latter transformed Cerisano into a military outpost. In 1489, the comune was entrusted to Royal Captain Gaspare Firrao, from Cosenza, and then to Bernardino de Marinis Gragnano.
