Boris Savelev (russian: Савельев, Борис Александрович, born 1948) is a Ukrainian-born Russian photographer. Career His original career was as an aerospace engineer, however it is photography that made his name since 1976. His works have been shown in galleries in his home country as well as United States, Germany and the UK. In the 1980s, Savelev experimented on color photographies. His first published work was ''The Secret City'' (1988), color photographs taken using Orwachrome film. The photographs capture Russia during a period of great upheaval, from the Cold War, through the dissolution of the U.S.S.R., to modern-day Russia. His style has been described as observational realism preoccupied with light and form. Savelev himself credits his 'methodical, scientific background' for the constructivist aesthetic in his photos. Larissa Saveliev (Russian: Лари́са Саве́льева) is a former Bolshoi Ballet dancer and the Founder and Artistic Director of YAGP, – the world's largest student ballet scholarship competition. She is also a producer of various performing arts events in the U.S. and around the world. Early career Larissa Saveliev was born in Moscow on March 29, 1969 in the family of college professors. She was trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and, upon graduating, joined the Stanislavsky Ballet. Several years later, she joined the Bolshoi Ballet, under the artistic direction of Yuri Grigorovich. Saveliev emigrated to the United States in 1994. Sergey Petrovich Savelyev (russian: Серге́й Петро́вич Саве́льев; February 26, 1948 in Raychikhinsk, Amur Oblast – October 29, 2005 in Moscow) was a Russian cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who represented the Soviet Union. Savelyev trained at the Armed Forces (sports society), Armed Forces sports society in Moscow. He won two medals at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck with a gold in the 30 km and a bronze in the 4 × 10 km relay. Savelyev also won the 30 km event at the 1978 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti. Savelyev was awarded Order of the Badge of Honor (1976).
