Ugo Savarese
Ugo Savarese (2 December 1912, Naples – 19 December 1997, Genoa) was an Italian operatic baritone, particularly associated with the Italian repertory. Savarese began his vocal studies in 1930 at the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in Naples with Maestro Conte. He made his stage debut in 1934, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, singing small roles. He sang his first major role, Pagliacci, Silvio, there in 1938, followed by Rigoletto and La traviata, Germont. Like most singers of his generation, his career was interrupted by military service. He resumed his career after being a prisoner in a German war camp. From then on, his career steadily progressed, with guest appearances at both the Opéra-Comique and the Palais Garnier in Paris, the Teatro Nacional Sao Carlos in Lisbon, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, and also appearing in London, Monte Carlo, Zurich, Brussels, Leningrad (Saint Petersburg), etc., where he was particularly appreciated in Verdi roles. Sergio Savarese
Sergio Savarese (born 1958 in Naples, Italy — died September 15, 2006 in Moffat County, Colorado, United States) was a furniture designer and a founder of Dialogica furniture stores. Savarese had studied to be a geologist. He went to Africa and spent seven years doing soil analysis to help farmers determine which crops to plant. His career as a designer happened by accident. After Savarese returned to Italy, he designed a folding stool. Once those went into production, he began designing other pieces. Savarese met his wife, Monique, at Milan's Domus Academy. The two were married in 1987, and together they began to design contemporary furniture distinct from the spare or historical aesthetics popular in the late 1980s. Savarese and his wife designed pieces that reinterpreted classical styles and used vibrant colors. Julia Savarese
Julia Savarese (born 1926) is an American writer. She was born in New York City. After graduating summa cum laude from Hunter College in 1950, she worked as an editor for various publications. Her novels include ''The Weak and the Strong'' (1952), which tells the story of an Italian-American family living in New York during the Great Depression, and ''Final Proof'' (1971), a novel about the death of a publishing empire. She published several plays and received a Ford Foundation grant for playwriting. She also wrote for television, and in 1968 received the Hallmark Television Award. ''The Weak and the Strong'' was one of the earliest novels about growing up as the daughter of Italian immigrants; it defied the stereotypes of "happy-go-lucky" Italian family life. When it was first published, critics called it "bleak," "unrelenting," and "humorless." Tom Savarese
Tom Savarese is a DJ best known for his role in the 1970s Disco music scene. He was born on April 26, 1944, in New York City, and grew up in the Bronx neighborhood. He eventually attended Fordham University. Savarese began his career as a DJ in 1969, playing apartment and house parties. Over time he became the full-time first professional Disco DJ in the US, and doing remixes for record labels in NYC. By the late-1970s Savarese was interviewed as an expert in the Disco music scene by major publications, including the ''New York Times'' and ''Billboard Magazine'', calling Savarese the "key New York Disco DJ" in 1977. Ralph James Savarese is an American academic, writer, poet, and activist. As of 2024, he is a professor of English, Science, Medicine, and Society at Grinnell College. He is the author of five books, including ''Reasonable People'' (2007) and ''See It Feelingly'' (2018), and has published several chapbooks and poems. Early life and education Savarese earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wesleyan University in 1986, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. That year, he won the Glascock Poetry Prize. Giovanni Savarese (born July 14, 1971) is a Venezuelan football manager and former player, who is the head coach for the Portland Timbers. Club career Professional Breakthrough Savarese made his professional debut at 15, with Venezuelan club Deportivo Italia during the 1986–87 season.
