Sauvo
Sauvo (; sv, Sagu) is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southwest Finland region. The municipality had a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . Like many waterside areas near major population centres, Sauvo's population increases every summer because of summer cottage usage. While vacationers are not reflected in the official statistics, they roughly double the population during the summer. Today it holds a stone church from the late 15th century, and many manor houses. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. Sauvo Church
Constructed between the years of 1460 and 1472, the Sauvo church ( fi, Sauvon kirkko, sv, Sagu kyrka) is a medieval stone church located within Sauvo, Finland. A military cemetery exists at the church. History The Sauvo Church was built between the years of 1460 and 1472, although the first historical mention of this church dates back to the year of 1346 from the Turku Cathedral as there have been several wooden churches on this site at the beginning of the 13th century. Many renovations to the church were made during the 17th century, but the interior of the church is very well-preserved. Aatos Abel Tapala (born 5 May 1940) is a Finnish actor, opera singer and, for a time, a soloist for the Finnish National Opera from 1965 to 1972. Tapala was born in Sauvo. Karuna, Finland
Karuna was a municipality in Southwest Finland region of Western Finland Province, Finland, until 1969 when it merged into the municipality of Sauvo.
